If you're concerned (I am!) and can't see the page, let me know - I may be able to cut-and-paste into an e-mail message.

Notice how nicely it works in a gradient yarn.  And the pattern is free.  Drat - if only I were going to Maryland this year!  I guess I know what's first on my Rhinebeck wish list.

Beautiful! I like the first one where she uses a different pattern to a point then continues on with the original.

Yes!  But I'm not sure I can combine patterns like that any more, even though it's so simple.

Fiber Optic Yarns

Lucinda Shastid

I love Fiber Optic gradients (both yarn and spinning fiber) and just noticed something new about them: you can buy extra yarn of either the starting or the ending color, if you like.  So if you want a gradient shoulder area in a shawl and then you want the bottom in a solid color - you can get it!

As an example, see the "Related Items" on this page: http://kimberbaldwindesigns.com/UNIGRAD/Y-KAS-UNI-Sakura.html

I don't think it's really new, but it's new-to-me because I hadn't seen it before.

Stretchy I-Cord Edging

Lucinda Shastid

I found this when going through project notes for a shawl I might do.  I'm used to using I-cord at the start of each row, and knitting the final stitches plain (to be I-corded immediately after turning the work).  This does the I-cord at the end of the row, and adds a YO at the start of the row.  I think I might try it.  If anyone else tries it, please let me know how it works out!

I-cord selvedges (3 stitches):
Always work the same, both in rs- and ws-rows:
Beginning of row: k2, yo, k. End of row (last 4 stitches): slip 1 wyif, drop yo, slip 2 wyif.
It is supereasy and with the yarnovers no problem with tension arises. If necessary you can even work a dyo, especially when increasing rapidly.
