How do we get more members?

Lucinda Shastid

I notice that as some people move out of the area, we don't get new members to replace them.  At this rate, the group will eventually die away.

What can we do to get more people interested?  I'd love some brainstorming.

Here are some of my thoughts:

There are a lot of knitting groups in the area, I think that we are unique in also being spinners, so this is one place to focus our efforts.

We can spin in public in front of the Farm Stand during good weather.  Maybe move some chairs out by the composting toilet  so we don't block the selling area?

What about talking up our group when we knit with others?  (It's good to be able to make exactly the kind of yarn you want)

Getting into the news would be good - I know we've gotten a few curious people that way.  How do we do that?

Reactions?  Other thoughts?

Lucinda

The weather's looking acceptable, as far as I can see.  Snow won't really begin until 2:00, when I plan to have been home for a while.

See you later this morning - I'm looking forward to it.

I will be coming on Saturday after all. Considering the weather, it's probably best to stay close to home.

Hi Lucinda

I didn't bring the Hanson to PA after all. I ended up being busy meeting with friends and helping my husband with his car restoration.

I probably won't be coming to the meeting on Saturday after all.
A friend and I will probably be going to the VKL Marketplace. I need to talk with an Irish knitwear designer with whom I took a class when I went to Ireland in May. She will be there.
If I don't end up going,  I'll come to the meeting.

How was Pennsylvania?  How did your miniSpinner work?

I hear you about the weather - the forecast keeps pushing it later and later, so I hope we can safely get through our meeting and home again.

Who else has spun or plans to spin their pet's yarn?

I may be able to spin with Cricket’s fur but I’d have to save it for a long time. I get such a small amount each time I comb her.

Try toilet bowl cleaner with bleach. If that doesn’t work, there is grout “paint” one can buy. I haven’t tried it, but it’s what I would turn to if the cleanser doesn’t work. Good luck!
