I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far. It is beautiful here in Maine! Not too hot and always a nice breeze.

I am working on 2lbs of fleece I bought at CT sheep and wool that was so old it was a bit felted but I got through the carding process finally! When you are doing a 3 ply yarn and run out of singles on one or more of the bobbins what do you do? I am tempted to put all three back on the wheel and fill them up just joining where the plying left off and filling the bobbins. I have done 3 ply before but can’t remember what I did! What do you all do?

I miss you all and hope you are having a nice summer.

Yes, I've done what you suggested.  If you have more fiber to spin, I think it's the best way.

When I run completely out of fiber from one bobbin, I Andean-wrap (whatever it's called - make a two-ply bracelet of the remaining yarn) the larger amount and do a 3-ply from it and the smaller bobbin.  When I only have one bobbin left, I chain-ply it.  Alternatively, I can chain-ply the second bobbin and then continue the chain-ply with the third bobbin, but the chain-ply is slightly different (the "knot" from where the chain happens) so I prefer to do a true three-ply whenever possible.

Hello :

I wanted to invite you to come to the Catskills Fiber Festival. Last year was our first year - and we started at the Catskill Distillery Co in Bethel NY. This year we have moved to The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts (home of the 1969 Woodstock Festival). If you aren't aware of Bethel Woods - this year marks the 50th anniversary of the original Woodstock. (I like to say - the same year as the moon landing - and Sesame Street - a totally odd collection!!!) We are part of their Harvest Festival. And the Festival - which I think is in its 20th year has between 2500-5000 visitors every sunday. Its a fun outing. Not only are we expecting many vendors with different yarns, but fleeces, roving, batts, looms, products. Many different items. The Harvest Festival has music, food vendors, farm produce vendors, and some juried craft items. Lots to do for kids!  we have activities with the fiber festival - and Bethel Woods also has actiivities. Plenty of places to sit down and eat, and listen to the music - and knit if you would like!  Great place to do a day trip! always fun - really so much to do here. Great restaurants near by. Also the new Resort Casino is 10 mins away. Bethel Woods has an interactive 60's museum.

The location is in the Foothills of the Catskills, about 1 1/2 hours from NYC, an hour from Binghamton, 1 1/2 hours from Albany, 2 hours from Syracuse, 45 minutes from Honesdale, ny, a little over an hour from Scranton, and 2 hours from Syracuse.   Let me know if I can send you more information, I have attached our promotional cards for you

hope you come!! let me know.

Welcome to Bethel Woods | Bethel Woods Center for the Arts

Joan Conco and I were the only two who showed up. We swapped personal  stories about travel and festivals. And we survived the heat by only moving our knitting needles.
