Wow really. Narrow Gauge convention in the home of the D&RGS?
If we could confirm the dates ahead of time, that would be a great life dream of mine to plan to visit.

Thanks Mike.

Dates are confirmed by contract: Wed Aug 30, 2022 through Saturday, Sep 2, 2022.  And we do expect that the CATS and D&S will have special events either before or after the convention, but we (I'm on the convention committee) aren't coordinating those potential outside activities.

Yes, come to Denver next year if you can't make Tacoma this year.  We're working to make it a great convention.

Get tickets well in advance and save $$$.

I would so love to attend. I've just checked out the website (and hotel website) and it seems so wonderfully organised. Unfortunately as it's the Labour Day weekend, a ticket from Singapore fo Seattle for me would cost somewhere in the region of US$2500-3000 coach! So maybe I should plan better and way ahead ...for the next one.
I hope all attendees have fun and stay safe. Please share photos (and videos if possible).

Great! Yes, the Murano still has a few rooms available. August 31 is sold out, I believe.
I'd rather be back *in* Murano, especially if someone paid my air fare....

Yes, I was referring to Timetable & Train Order Operations - typical on the narrow gauge.

I'm guessing he's referring to something that gives a train authority to occupy the mainline.  Some railroads used track permits, clearance cards, train orders, track bulletins etc.

Robin,

I'm really looking forward to this as it will be my first NNGC.  I live in southwestern Washington so will be driving up on Friday, staying the night then hitting the layout tours on my way home Saturday.  As to the hotel, there seems to be availablities at the Hotel Murano as I just booked a night there yesterday.

The 42nd National Narrow Gauge Convention (to be held in Tacoma, WA) is just a month away (September 1-4, 2022).  We have our clearance card and we are fine tuning all the details.  Here are a few important updates:

  • The four wonderful modular layouts that will be on display are now listed on our website.  This includes Hangman Creek - a stunning On3 layout that won "Best in Show" at the 2012 National Narrow Gauge Convention.  For HOn3 modelers, we also have the Arizona Division of the Mudhens.
  • The deadline for ordering convention shirts is close. Please order by August 5 to ensure that we can get them manufactured.
  • Don't forget to explore our two "extra fare" tours to the Museum of Flight (in Seattle) and to the Museum of Glass.
  • The clinic schedule continues to be refined, and the latest version will always be found on our website.
  • Rooms are still available for at our overflow hotel - the Marriott Tacoma Downtown - just a block away from our venue. Our website has a link to make reservations at our negotiated rate.
We are looking forward to seeing you in Tacoma in just a few weeks!  As always, head to our website (www.seattlenngc.com) for details.
