Victor...Micro Trains on the Way Paul

Sam Urrate

Paul I put your Victor Micro Trains car in the mail yesterday.  It is priority mail so it should arrive tomorrow.  I hope you enjoy the car.  All I ask is that sometime you aid another model railroader with a need.  I didn't have your email so I wanted to notify you of the shipment.

D&RGW Reefers

Wes Garcia

I am looking for some input. I am planning to use Badger Model-flex paint 16-62 D&RGW yellow. Would this be a good match for the 30' reefer? I will be using roof brown for the ends and roof. Thank you in advance for your feedback.

I know there are several fellow HOn3 group members living in Florida. If you are going to the Deland train show this Saturday morning and you see a big dopey guy wandering around with a salt and pepper goatee and a Red Sox cap on, say hi!

Brian: yes, that was the article!  Thank you.

Others: my reason for scratch-building the frame will be for NMRA achievement.  Otherwise, I have numerous Grandt kits and MEL steel frame cars.

Bill I never had the pleasure of building a MMW kit. There are rumors about them also being bought if you believe what "they" say on the internet....

Ed,

For details, see the Quick Pic Book on the 30' Short Reefers. Lots of close up pics of the hardware and I shot the interior of the ice bunker on one of the 40 ft cars. The bunkers should be the same on the 30 ft.

http://www.quickpicbooks.com/files/drgwshrtrfrbook.html

Bunker interior in color on the back cover (bottom left on the image on the web page) and b/w on sample page 48. Sample pages show some of the detail shots of the hardware.

Actually UP but none the less. Jeff is a good man, a very experienced railroader and a fine musician to boot!

Alan,

There is an Ad in the latest Gazette for the 30 foot reefers. But, no release date. The Blackstone website has had no new entries to their Blog for over 3 years now.

On another slightly associated note, The former production manager of Blackstone (or whatever his title was) Jeff Johnson, has been made General Operations Manager of the Duamgo-SilvertonTrain.
Not many know that he was a former Rio Grande, diesel operations employee.
