I remember Rollins House Miniatures had them which became something else, which today God only knows where it went. But I think they were made of a soft metal, such as Cerrobend.

Take a look at Bowser / Cary locomotive works, they have a collection of brass and puter detail castings . I have used these in my custom installations for car interiors and marker lights
