Re: San Juan Model Co. CONOCO tank cars

Well, I ordered 9, but I’ve been squirrelling away some cash each week since the pre orders opened 3 years ago. What I didn’t really budget for was the cost of freight to Oz, that cost the same as two cars.
Just hope the shipping doesn’t take to long.

Mike, not too many HOn3 modelers in Western Australia, don't even have ant full service Train Stores

I assume you are calculating AU$120 for the model and AU$46 for shipping? That sounds about right, unfortunately. But maybe a bunch of you could join together and get several models all shipped together, that should cut down on shipping cost per model. Mike Conder

There was (and now is again) a "End of Standard Gauge" sign on the D&RGW at the west end of Antonito Colorado, now on the Cumbres and Toltec. Randy Hees

Re: San Juan Model Co. CONOCO tank cars
Yeah I had to send mine through my mail-forwarding service in Florida. (It’s not cheap either, but about 1/3 of what UPS was charging.)

Re: San Juan Model Co. CONOCO tank cars
Overseas postage definitely is very steep. I ordered mine to be shipped to Chicago. Means I will have to wait till summer though when my son comes for a visit.

At this point, though, I would rather pay quite a bit more than not having those models at all.

All: I saw production samples of the HOn3 CONOCO Tank Cars, at the 2021 NNGC in Hickory, NC, back in early September. They looked amazing! Looking forward to receiving my order of Tank Cars. Mark Lewis Narrow gauge modeling in N.C.

These will be way too expensive for me over here in the UK but they look fine models .The Blackstone locos look like they are made by Kader so maybe they will take it all over like in the UK where Bachmann who are noted for good quality scale models in the UK,not lower end stuff, released previously private commisions under the EFE label .I probably wont be able to afford them but I do have brass to while away the hours and lots of kits to keep me quiet . The sample I saw two years ago rolled very freely. F.Y.I. The story goes that the trucks these cars rode on came from the scrapped Ingoldsby Coal gons. The story also goes that Kadee 4' 8" trucks were based on the Ingoldsby cars trucks. All of my Division Point CONOCO Tall Dome Tank Cars ride on these trucks and they roll GREAT! So if you decide you don't like the San Juan trucks (which I totally doubt you will), you have a second excellent choice to go to. Dale

I can chime in here on this. They are most definitely in Denver. Seen the pix and Doug is a best friend. As for kits thereof, no plans at this time. Lastly, I can also attest to the amazing quality of the cars. The castings are superb. Bill

I sure hope I am wrong…but every time I discuss the engines/reruns with them…they keep saying they need to go over and inspect the molds. And with Covid they indicated it would be a while. Back on the San Juan cars..they look great. I’m OK paying a bit more for higher quality. Has anyone heard of they will be offering kit form? Craig
