I told Bill that I would post this information here and on the Chili Line group and see if we can generate enough interest, via order commitments, for him to be able to go into production.  I, myself, will take 2 kits off the initial run, if he does go into production.  How many other people out there would be willing to commit to buying a kit so we can get this rare bit of nostalgia from the Chili Line built?

Pilot Truck question

Roger Clay

What feels like a very novice question: Why do many MR steam locos have their pilot trucks attached to the frame in such an un-prototypical fashion. I'm guessing to make them less susceptible to derailing.

I have a United Calwechen shay thats Hon3. It was professionally built by the Shay Fixer. It has a sound system and a digital controller board. Its painted with glass installed in the appropriate places.  It won't be cheap but it's a marvelous engine. Never run on a layout etc.

Re: Taos Junction Depot in HOn3 by BANTA Modelworks

Ernie Barney

What plan of the station is Banta using? The Maxwell plans are not correct as Dan Pyzel has pointed out. My scratch built model was built using these plans and is incorrect as to window and enclosed stairway on the front bay section. One of our members posted their cad drawings of the station on our site which shows the station as it looked. Note that no photos show the bay section. Either way the station is really neat but it would be great if it was completely accurate to the prototype.

Re: Another Building

Steve Hatch

Happy to share what I do.  I've been fooling with acrylics for a couple years now and Some Days
it works good...... other times not so good.
I just use the CHEAP stuff from WalMart.  I like buying all sorts of colors that I'll probably never use but at
$0.89  a bottle who cares.  Any way.... I have a half bubble plastic tray that I came across as packaging
somewhere along the way and I use it with a cup of water.
I simply dip the brush in water and then grab a touch of paint from a bubble and some times
dilute it and some times use it straight.  That gives me stains and paint in varying shades and colors
as I pre smear all the parts.with either color or stain.   This by the way gives me are the variants that
make it look like I really worked hard at the colors (when I didn't).
I even stain over parts that I sprayed white to start with. Makes an interesting aged look to the paint.
Anyway That's all I'm doing.  Simple Cheap Easy that's me.  But most of all FUN.

here's the bubble paint holder:
