Re: Frame Windows
Mike Conder
Your prints look goo, what "Z' setting do you use? I was looking at an Elegoo Mars resin printer, but I just "inherited" a Bibo FDM printer. I'll play with that for a while before going resin. Bibo specs say that the Z can be 0.05 mm, same as the Elegoo, so we'll see how fine it can print. Right now I'm using SketchUp for the 3D design but just downloaded Fusion 360. Mike Conder

Re: MDC 3 Truck shay

Still working the rebuild, up to and including the nwsl gear sets, currently building the electrical transfer through the trucks for the motors and possible dcc. It's a pain, but here I go, NWSL provided, I am going to get the kit done, regardless. Thank you, MDC, the kit is a good one, looking forward for more?

I have read many a horror story on them already, but I really want to build one for old times sake. This kit is a newer kit with the white gears on the axles instead of the black ones. Since it has the newer axle gears would it be worth it to buy the NWSL regear kit for it? I am going to get the metal bull gear and the drive lines for sure. While the motor is open frame it is surprisingly quiet so will probably go with that. It will be Sound decoder equipped eventually. There are complete replacment trucks on EBay that are pretty tempting too. Has anybody happened to tried them.

Re: Winter
Climax@...
We dread the winters cold and snow that accumulates here as well. Not only does it get bad to just get out of the house but the roads are almost impassable and most of the people here go nuts when then see it. Mickey's is not too pleased either here it here Orlando too. Dave

Yeah I have to really watch when the wind starts to blow as it can blow the snow up too the doors! Fortunately we don’t get a whole bunch of snow here in southern Ohio! It does get cold though!

Yep Ric the room is dry. Was a bit blowin in under the door but i
need to replace the threshold with one that seals good. Needed to do that anyway. I have a really good wood stove that keeps the whole house warm and cozy. I have one in the train room as well but I just leave the little propane stove on real low and it keeps it warm in there. -Steve

Steve,
In PHX it rained off and on all night until 0900. Still overcast but the temp has crawled up to 48f on it's way to 58f. Ah, the blizzard of Dec. 11, 1985, a tenth of an inch accumulation at Sky Harbor. That was snow! Dusty Burman

I was trying for just a shade lighter than the #1 in Ridgway. It's a Buick but Pierce Arrow used a nice green,

Thanks Brian. There were 8 total geese Russ including the one built for the San Cristobal.
The #1 was recreated in Ridgway and is beautiful. The #2, #6 and #7 are at the Colorado RR Museum. The #3 in at Knotts Berry Farm, the #4 is in Telluride and the #5 is in Dolores. They have been together a few times but I think The the #3 has missed these reunions.

Both of the Motor #1s were painted Model Master Dark Green #1710. FS34079.
It is actually the same color I paint my C&S passenger equipment. Thanks, Tony

Very cool Tony! If you remember. What color of green did you go with? I reall y like the looks of your green geese. In a very early part of the "Glenn Miller Story Movie". One of the band members purchased a 1929 Pierce Arrow Limousine for the band to travel in. The best shot of it in the movie is of it driving on Clay Street where it goes under under the "Angels Flight" in Los Angeles. The car's color was a very dark green. Maybe between Dark Forest Green and Brunswick Green. I was told be a car collector that this was one of Pierce Arrow's factory colors. Dale Buxton
