Hmm ... makes me wonder if anybody has pinned down a similar Tamiya formula for the Blackstone red passenger cars?   A friend in England found a bottle of solvent-based red that's a dead ringer, but I've lost it and don't remember the name (maybe Railmatch LM Lake or LM Red?)

Dusty I posted a formula to match Blackstone coach green several months back. Look in the messages tab for Matching BS Coach Green or follow the link below. Since this post I have used the formula on a LaBelle parlor car and am satisfied that even on a wood car it's a good match to Blackstone's color.

I had an HOn3 layout which I had to dismantle when we moved here.  I have about 40 freight cars which I painted and lettered with the D&RGW bug herald scheme.  I'd like to give them a good home.  I know you model Sn3 but if you know anyone interested in these cars, I can provide a list.  I'd like to get some money for the cars but can be flexible on the price.  Thanks.

Someone posted it for a Vallejo color on the old board.  I'm looking for it.

Re: Shapeways Prep Question

Dusty

Ended up Simple Greening with Ivory Liquid chaser.
So far...
1. Fit body to floor.
2. Drilled/tapped floor for 0-80.
3. Disassembled Blackstone trucks removing side bearer roller assembly.
4. Attach trucks.
Next....
1. Finalize truck/couple height. (Think temporary gluing)
2. Enlarge side bearer center hole to clear truck mounting bolster pad.
3. Reassemble trucks.
4. Test and trim body side bearer to clear truck side bearer rollers.
5. Reassemble and test.

Margarita time.

Think the Vallejo color is 71-017 Russion green?

May sound like a dumb question, but which of the two hatches on the bunker is for filling water and oil?  Looked all over to no avail.

Should be water in the forward tank and oil in the rear one. There should be a large lid on the water tank, and a smaller one on the oil tank.

I've tried the Vallejo Red Leather bUT it's a bit off.  I'm not good with mixing paints so was hoping someone had already done the footwork on this.

If not, time to practice mixing!

Nice modeling!  Even having seen this in person, this is a great view and shows things I didn't fully realize.  Scenery and structures are coming along very nicely - well done!!
