Bruce,

It's listed at www.walthers.com for $432, and the web page claims that it's
in stock (!). It's says HO. Go to the walthers web page and search for
2-6-0. It's listed behind the IHC moguls.

Kato doesn't have anything listed...I sent them an e-mail, and am waiting for
a reply

I betcha that Kato "C-56" is a Japanese prototype. The number is
consistant with JNR practice, and Kato does a LOT of world-market stuff
we never see in the U.S.A.
If it's Japanese, then if it's HO gauge it's not HO SCALE. The JNR
in steam days was all 42" gauge, and a mite small.
So the proportion is probibly more like 1:76. You might check out
Kato's site. The answer could be there( I thikk I'll go have a look,
too!)

Just heard from Kato...the 2-6-0 in the walthers catalog is a Japanese
National Railways C-56 prototype. Nice of them to answer!

The Walther's page for announcements for Sept 1999 does not specifically
say that that switcher is one of their Spectrum line, so I suppose it
isn't. I wish it was so it would have a better chance of being a good
model.

Wow, for the price they are quoting (I think it was $80 or $90), I would
have thought it must be Spectrum...

Are we sure about the scale? Spectrum G stuff has catalog #'s
starting with "8". My HO 2-8-0's stock #'s begin with "1". Perhaps
these are G gauge? There are existing "B S" 0-6-0's in this price
range

The Spectrum line HO-scale 4-8-2 Mountains start with 81601-07.
