Rumored HO Steam locos: Athearn
Keeping this thread alive, there is a rumor that Athearn will
introduce another type steam engine next year, but so far
they will not tell which type.

Are we sure about the scale? Spectrum G stuff has catalog #'s
starting with "8". My HO 2-8-0's stock #'s begin with "1". Perhaps
these are G gauge? There are existing "B S" 0-6-0's in this

The Walther's page for announcements for Sept 1999 does not specifically
say that that switcher is one of their Spectrum line, so I suppose it
isn't. I wish it was so it would have a better chance of

Just heard from Kato...the 2-6-0 in the walthers catalog is a Japanese
National Railways C-56 prototype. Nice of them to answer!

I betcha that Kato "C-56" is a Japanese prototype. The number is
consistant with JNR practice, and Kato does a LOT of world-market stuff
we never see in the U.S.A.

It's listed at www.walthers.com for $432, and the web page claims that it's
in stock (!). It's says HO. Go to the walthers web page and search for
2-6-0. It's listed behind the IHC
