I have money from W9TC and K9MD, and a commitment from N9TNT to sponsor
INQP plaques this year.

I presume Jay will do the PORTABLE plaque again. N9TNT wants to do one
of the rare county plaques.

I also presume that SMC, HDXCC, and Indiana ARRL will sponsor the same
as last year.  (See http://www.hdxcc.org/inqp/plaque-sponsors.php?y=2021   )

SO .... at this point we have many open commitments.
http://www.hdxcc.org/inqp/plaque-sponsors.php?y=2022

Inflation in shipping costs will likely affect cost per plaque. Likely
in the 35 dollar range, but I await word from the plaque source to see
what we should expect.

PLEASE do not Pay Pal me until after plaques have been shipped (some
time this summer)

Thanks...

Solar Storm

WM PRICE <billp7634@...>

NEW YORK: The US space agency National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have said that a massive geomagnetic solar storm will possibly hit the Earth on Thursday (April 14, 2022), which may also cause a global blackout.

Both NASA and NOAA confirmed on Tuesday that a halo coronal mass ejection (CME) was spotted racing towards the Earth. The two agencies said that the resultant geomagnetic storm will hit Earth on Thursday (April 14).

Also, taking to Twitter, the Center of Excellence in Space Sciences India (CESSI) shared the details of this upcoming storm. “A halo CME was detected by SOHO LASCO on 11 April. Our model fit indicates a very high probability of Earth impact on 14 April 2022 with speeds ranging between 429-575 km/s+,”

It was operated for roughly 4 years before it's repair in a non-smoking environment and is in perfect condition with no scratches or mars. I am offering it for sale to any member of the group for $2200. If it doesn't readily sell to a member,
I will offer it for sale on QRZ and QTH at $2400. The following is a link to Ameritron's description of the amp.

SSB Sprint is Saturday evening April 23rd

Mike Wetzel

Hello Fellow NA SSB Sprinter,

Thank you very much for your participation in and your support of the NA SSB Sprint Contest in the past

All of the previous results have been published on the website https://ssbsprint.com/.

That includes the October 2021 Results https://ssbsprint.com/results/2021-10.

All-time Records for each state/province/country and class have been updated on the website.

It's time to get ready for the next NA SSB Sprint Contest.

That is April 24, 2022  0000 - 0359 UTC.  Which is Saturday evening April 23rd starting at 8 PM EDT here in North America.

This should be a wide-open contest period with no other major contests or state QSO parties.

We need to make sure we have adequate participation from every state and every part of Canada.  While all states have been worked in the past three events, some states have been very difficult.  So, we have started the Planned Activity page for this event.  If you would, please sign up on the Planned Activity page.  https://ssbsprint.com/planned-activity/   This really helps us be sure that we have all of the states and provinces covered.

And if you want some additional fun, also get a team together register them on the website. https://ssbsprint.com/team-registration/

Perhaps you can set your sights on setting a new record in your area, or winning a Worked All States T-Shirt or obtaining a score to qualify for a certificate, or simply having a great time on the air!

73 Bob KW8N & NA SSB Sprint Contest Committee

I think you have maximized the antenna potential for your situation.

Hope to work you in the INQP.

The project is not yet done, but this afternoon N9FN and W9TN came over and we hung my end-fed wire from the supports that were installed on the roof of my apartment building yesterday. I just made my first QSO with it... a very solid chat with CT1BQH. Although I have been on the air from here since early February, I could hardly hear anything above 40 meters. This QSO was on 20 and I was thrilled.

The wire length still needs to be tweaked but I am feeling pretty good about the prospects for the future. I am attaching a couple of photos that really don't show much. One if of the entire antenna... you will have to zoom in to see much. The supports are about 150' apart. The building is 4 stories high and the masts are 21' tall. As you can see there are no obstructions in the near field. The other is from my parking place at the rear of my building. I think you have to zoom way in on the right-hand support to see the rope that holds that end of the antenna... but what really matters is that I am very happy to be back on the air on multiple bands.

Dave

Great to see that you have amenable apartment management. I can attest that, even with compromised antennas here in the HOA, you can have lots of fun on the air.

Good luck, hope to work you in some of the domestic events
