Rarest of the rare?

David, N9KT

According to everything I've read, W6ODD/CR8 is the rarest post WWII QSL card that was recognized by the DXCC.

CR8 - Damao/Diu (Portuguese India)
Both the French and Portuguese had colonies in India for centuries. The Portuguese area was on the west coast, consisting of Goa and Daman/Diu.

There was only one operation of 55 contacts (on Diu Island) by W6ODD/CR8 in 1948. He was a merchant marine who also visited and operated from FI8. In 1961 Bob White at DXCC confirmed that W6ODD/CR8 was recognized for DXCC.

Anyone got one of those?

yep thanks for the correction. I guess D1DX is for the "New" Donesk independent country.

Thanks for the pointer. That actually got me on the correct path looking at some of these countries. I just find it fascinating that they exist and that with the DXCC list acknowledging stuff that even *I* wouldn't call a country that they aren't in the list.

I found some more info about Transnistria. Apparently they have been using the "T10" prefix: https://clublog.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/folders/98493

Looking at that list, the funniest one I've found is "1Z" - the "Karen State". Imagine that, a whole country of "Karens"! 😁

Now I'm curious and I'm going to have to go through my log and see if I've worked any of these strange places.

Your weirdest QSL card

David, N9KT

This whole path I've been taking about Transnistria "T10" has got me thinking about an interesting topic for HDXCC.

What is your weirdest QSL card? Something other than a recognized DXCC entity since we mostly all know about those.

Here's the QSL card for T10VB:

Thanks fof the reply Jim,  From what I see, most of V6 Users are from al over the world.  I had 70 during the ARRL CW - a little less than half that during the ARRL Phone weekend.  V4 User are mainly local.

Rebuilding the V4 Cluster from scratch is anther major effort.  V4 "morphed" over the years and the changes were added piecemeal rather than coming up with brand new installation files.  Frankly I'm not sure I'm up to the effort given the major amount of work to rebuild my Main PC.   I would prefer to sunset my V4 PC.

V6 is far superior in its filtering capabilities - but it is NOT COMPATIBLE with the AR-User software. V6 does not have MAIL or TALK which are hardly used by anyone these days.  However I can supply a PDF with the Rich Set of Filter Commands which includes Common Filter Expressions.   I'm sending it via a separate E-Mail.

V6 was optimized to deal with SKIMMER SPOTS, but it still passes Hand Entered Spots and hand Entered PHONE Spots.  To limit Spots JUST to Hand Entered Spots, from your Telnet program enter the command:

              SET DX FILTER NOTSKIMMER

Commands are remembered when you disconnect, so it you later want Skimmer Spots, use the Command:

              SET DX FILTER SKIMMER

Also you can have different filter command sets for each different LOGIN SSID - ex:  W9PA, W9PA-1, W9PA-2 and so on.

Finally Compound Filters (SQL Style) can be constructed using AND and OR Operators.  Examples are shown in the PDF.  I'm happy to assist with writing Filter Statements.

I would like to know your reaction to making this change.  Somehow or another today getting ready for the ARRL DX PHONE Contest I accidentally did something to the configuration of W9PA V4 and I don't know how to recover.

Agan, I'd be happy to help construct filter commands.

Hi Rick,

Welcome to Central Indiana and the HDXCC.

I see that you are in my log twice--once from MN in 2014 (as KC0RSX) and once in 2018 from here in IN.  One of those must have been a SKCC event.  I am #14 (lived just across the Mississippi from the founder).

My wife was raised in Springfield. I worked there awhile during summers while I was at the U of Ill.  And a little while after I got out of the military.  I was raised in Pittsfield.

Welcome again to you and Tina.  I look forward to meeting you in person.
