Example Welcome messages for transfer from a Yahoo Group
Shal's Classmate Group
In the description below, I've used MyGroup and MyTitle as placeholders for the actual group name and title. I used the Link tool to make the addresses (email and web) active links. Below I've shown those items with underlines.
This Welcome notice was put in place temporarily just prior to giving the "Go" email to the transfer agent. The Y!Group members had previously been sent a few special notices telling them of the upcoming move; the last of which was sent just before the "Go" and told them to look for this message. So in that context "You made it!" would make sense.
After the transfer completed I made this one inactive, and created a slightly reworded welcome to be appropriate for people who applied to join the (restricted) group and were accepted. That one I named "Normal Welcome" and it remains the Active welcome message.

You made it!
Welcome to the new home of the MyTitle email list and group service. Please take a moment to review this message.
To start sending messages to fellow members of this group, simply send email to MyGroup@groups.io.
We have a home page on the web at https://groups.io/g/MyGroup - from there you can access our photos, messages and other content, but you must log in to Groups.io to identify yourself as a member of the group. The easiest way to do this is to use the "Send me a link to log in" feature - an email with a log-in link should arrive momentarily. Open the message and follow the link promptly, it will expire in a short while. Once you've arrived at the site your login is valid for 30 days, so long as you don't log out or clear your browser's cookies. After that, simply ask for another log-in email.
If you do not wish to belong to this group and email list you may unsubscribe by sending an email to MyGroup+unsubscribe@groups.io or by visiting your Subscription page at our web site. Or just send me a note.

Steve's product-related Group
We're a group of 4000 members all using the same brand of camper vans.
In the description below, I've used MyGroup and MyTitle as placeholders for the actual group name and title, Moderator for a moderator name, and Product for the product name. I used the Link tool to make the addresses (email and web) active links. Below I've shown those items with underlines.

Hello MyGroup!
Welcome to the MyGroup@groups.io group at Groups.io (also known as GIO).This group is for people who love their Product (or are thinking of buying one). It's a list to chat about modifications, problems, fixes, and issues, and share our good-time stories. All models, years, and makes are welcome.
You're approved as a member, with all your YahooGroup (YG) settings, and you can start chatting about Product right way! The transfer from YG included all the photos, files, and message history. You can see everything on the Home Page.
Just like on YG, GIO lets you post via web or email: Use sub@MyGroup.groups.io to post new topics (make sure to add that address to the safe sender list in your email program) or https://groups.io/g/MyGroup for reading and posting messages from your Web browser. You can always change your subscription settings.
Please tell us who you are
From the Home Page, click Subscription, the Membership tab, then scroll down to Signature, check both boxes, and add your name, rig (year, make, model) and optionally, the State you live in.
While you're there, you can also click on the Group Profile tab to add a picture and details about yourself; from Profile Privacy, please change the setting the "Other members in my group." Here's what the Group Directory looks like; it is where you can find other member's profiles, if you've shared yours.
We have a few common sense guidelines for the group
- No politics or bullying; be polite and supportive.
- Replying with a new topic? Please change the subject line. And please keep on topic.
- Good practice: Only one topic per message.
- Replying in a Digest? Click the Reply link under the specific message within the Digest.
- It's OK to post buy and sell Product messages.
GIO's Terrific and Powerful Features
- If you're tired of receiving message on a specific topic, click the Mute link at the bottom of the message and you won't see that message thread ever again. Way cool!
- Want to reply to the person sending the message? Click Reply to Sender.
- Made a mistake in a message you sent? Go to the Home Page, click Messages, click the message you want to change, and then click Edit. Neat!
- There are other handy links at the bottom of each message. BTW, if you're no longer interested in Product, or this Group, you can easily unsubscribe.
