That would be a definite Maybe.  If any messages were deleted on the Yahoo group, there will be a change in the interval/offset at that point when they're copied over.

3. Has anybody come up with a way to map g.io message numbers to the original Y!G #s?
If anyone has done such a thing, it has not been reported since I've been here (approx 2 years).
So will it be a fixed offset, i.e.
Y!G    GIO
300    125
325    150

etc? If so, we could put that offset in the header page or similar.

Second question: Could we specify a starting offset greater than the max Y!G #; that would avoid any confusion:
Y!G    GIO
300    10125
325    10150

Did you receive an email that your invitation had been received?  I think this is still automatically sent out when your invitation reaches Groups.io.  You can also check your transfer page as described in other posts to see what the status is.  As has been mentioned, sending more than one invitation can also slow down the process.

I am sure the "removed because of spam" will be the next deluge of messages coming next.

The most reputable way, for my opinion to check if a IP Address is compromised is the senderbase system that cisco has formed some years ago.

This system dosn't check the emails itself, instead it collects traficdata from a huge lot of cisco switches.

Here you can see the good reputation of the emailserver that belongs to groups.io as far as I know.

https://talosintelligence.com/reputation_center/lookup?search=66.175.222.12

Also spamhaus.org is a good place to check. This is a service based in germany. They use honeypot technlogy and real emailservers to build up their database. That works very reliable.

All the Best,

Isidro

If a bunch of them start flagging such notices as spam then it stands to reason that might adversely affect the reputation of the service.

I'm not trying to downplay the impact such a thing can have, only to suggest that such glitches should probably be expected; and can similarly be expected to resolve themselves after this massive influx of newbies subsides.

Hope this helps,

Well, that's great news Bruce, thanks!

Just to make certain, I am asking to migrate a separate Yahoo group, as a subgroup into my main group, into my Premium Yearly plan, and you're saying there's not a double transfer fee?

Thanks - I figured it out after I hit send but I figured others might find it helpful.

And, in case anyone is wondering - it appears that yahoogroups is now down so we cannot set up transfers.  grumble, grumble.

I'm also waiting for the transfer@groups.io invitation to be accepted into my Yahoo Group. I created the group on groups.io, then sent the invite from the yahoo group (twice now) and the transfer email has not joined my group yet.

I understand that they might be busy but some kind of response would be nice...?

Glad I woke up and dialed in early.  Paid the Premium upgrade (and initiated the Transfer) just 40 minutes before Price Change.  On behalf of 1150 cold war veterans, we are counting on you.  Thanks, Bill

Bonzai.   At 8:20am Pacific time prior to the 9:00am (Pac) price increase, my group Augsburg2ndOps and I are in.  Damn sure hope the transfer works, and the group is perpetuated under the new groups.io format.  Wish I'd had more time to research.  Bill, San Diego.

Workaround due to absentee yahoo group owner?

I tried to reach yahoo customer support to ask to be a moderator with privileges to do an invite for our group with an absentee owner. It’s simply not possible to reach yahoo anymore. (If someone knows how please tell me.) I’ve formed a basic group with intent to manually transfer files and photos to it. I can’t get at the yahoo membership list so I can’t transfer membership email addresses.

Would someone explain in detail how I can transfer old messages to the basic group? They exist in the yahoo group webpage. I read there is a way to make them PDFs and upload as a file. But I understand I would be unable to search for particular messages.

But, possible second option: I also personally have copies of all of them on my computer because they came to me as emails and I kept them. Can I send those as individual emails to the basic group? I realize they would all show up as being from me but if I forward them then each would also have the original sender name in the body of the mail. So could they be searched by the putting in the original poster’s name? I think this would require the search engine to be able to search text inside the body of the email.
Thank you.

If the status box says "make sure you send an invite to..." then by all means you should return to that Yahoo group and try again.

If it says "we have received your invite and will accept it soon...", then you should not.

Re: Should I be concerned?

Thank you, that helps a lot.

On one of the groups it says, “make sure you have sent an invite to transfer@groups.io” but not on the other; I actually sent the invite to that group first, but the damn Yahoo group doesn’t give me a status on either invitation.  Should I resend the invite on the group that’s reminding me?

Karen -- This is not the status page.

In order to determine status, you have to select each group in turn (click on their names) by pulling down the Existing Transfers menu. The boxed message at the top of the resulting page will then tell you what's going on.

The status of a given transfer cannot be determined until you select one.

Hope this helps,
