Re: Upgrading to Premium for one month and then making permanent

If you upgrade to monthly billing, you're going to continue being billed until you cancel. So just don't cancel.

When I upgraded a group almost a year ago, it took maybe 5 seconds.  It really boils down to any internet congestion.

Upgrading to Premium for one month and then making permanent

If I upgrade a free account to Premium for one month, and then before the month is over, the group wants to keep being Premium, how do I make that happen?

I had a member who used a non-member address to post a message and it was reject as spam whereas the exact same text was accepted from their member address.  I suggested they define the non-member address as an alias and since then, that member has had no problems.

This is not an available option.

Non-members are subject to a stricter spam policy than members.  (Actually, I don't think there's a spam filter at all for members.)  There have been cases reported where the exact same message is accepted after the person becomes a member.  For obvious reasons, the details of the spam filter aren't made public.  You could try reporting it to support@groups.io in case Mark wants to make any adjustments.  He's still fine tuning the filter at times.

It should happen automatically as soon as the payment is processed.

Upgrade to Premium

Cal

Does upgrading to premium happen immediately when I request upgrade, or does it wait until a human is involved?

Re: Allow nonmembers to post

Cal

I had that setting set already.  The messages just never appear.  The activity log says:
Non-member btv1==95375442671==aaa@... attempted to send message "XXXX" and the message was rejected because it was determined to be spam, via email

I changed the address here to protect the identity, and the subject line had a real one.
Why is it still rejecting a message when I am allowing nonmembers to post?

How do I make it so that, when a member views a message, they can ivew entire messages by default (including the quoted stuff), without having to click on a "Show quoted text" button?

I've revised it to reflect the current situation.  Until Mark implements the notice to member/sponsor, only the owner/mods are notified, though the sponsor can check their Billing page for verification.  I'll keep an eye on it and when he adds it, I'll revise the text.

Re: Sponsorship page in Wiki

Thanks for doing that Duane. I've taken your text and separated it, added that mods with the Billing permission may also check the balance, and added a couple of small graphics.

Cheers,
Christos

For the avoidance of doubt... we cannot check what is happening in your group. The Group Managers Forum is a peer to peer group intended for those individuals who own or moderate groups; it is not a group of managers at, or employed by, Groups.io.

There is no reason to doubt the accuracy of Andy W's post, but his report applies to his group, not yours.

I suggest that you have a look at your Activity Log to see if there any clues there.

Chris

In addition to what Bruce said, check your Activity Log and you should see entries in the format 'Non-member <nonmemberemailaddress> attempted to send message "message subject", via email'

Cal -- If you want nonmember to post, you have to enable it. https://groups.io/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/customizing-group-settings/message-policy-settings  Having done, so, such posts should land in Pending.

Otherwise, this is by design. Most nonmember posts come from spammers...if groups.io provided a response of any kind it would only encourage them to send more spam.
