Andi -- I don't think you've carefully thought this through.

If a group was set up to make payments on your card, do you really want the other Owners fiddling with billing intervals and amounts?

For this reason you must register your own credit card to make billing changes.

We have enough in our sponsorship fund to cover two years. I want to take advantage of the annual savings by paying for a year upfront. Why should I have to enter a credit card to make this change?
You don't. Have the other Owner (the one who already has a registered card) do it.

Bruce

Dano, fyi the subject line of the message in the archive doesn't change if you delete its hashtag from the hashtag list.

Can't Reject a Message

Leeni <leeniluvsgroups2@...>

In my group if a member writes something without sharing something their message it is rejected as the group is a sharing group. We then would send them a note telling them why their message didn't go through. This morning I went to see about approval of a message and in doing so I noticed that there  wasn't a Reject button. All I could do is delete the message. What happened to the Reject button. (see screenshot below) I felt this member needed a reason why their message didn't reach the group. This way they could resend it if they wanted to. Leeni

Hello everyone,
I have read the Owner's Manual and I can not find specific instructions on how to

Thank you.

Unfortunately for you, no.  You can only delete hashtags one at a time.  I'd go ahead and change the permissions to keep even more from being added, then remove the 'extras' as time allows.  If it's a paid group, you might be able to get support@groups.io to remove them all, but it would be at their discretion.

One thing to keep in mind is that simply deleting the hashtags may change the subject title such that it doesn't make much sense.  For example, if an existing subject is "Looking for #123456" (where someone was looking for a certain part number), the new subject will be "Looking for".

I ran into this with a couple groups I transferred. I was able to go through and search for messages with an octothorpe in the title and edit the title manually to replace it with 'No.' or 'number'. I was surprised that in a group that routinely mentioned equipment numbers and had over ten years of archives, I don't think there was more than two dozen titles I had to change.

As always, your mileage may vary.

In reverse order.  When you upgrade to annual, you should get legacy pricing per https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/26440.  However, if you drop back, it will be at the higher price per the same message.  Look at the info presented on your Billing page and click View/Change Plan to make sure about the upgrade though.

Going from Basic (free) to premium and back may be a different story.

If a group upgrades for a month, or even for a year, and then drops back, does the cost remain at the legacy price? And if a group upgrades, can it upgrade at the legacy premium price? I have a couple groups I'd like to consider upgrading, but since I'm already paying for three premium groups on monthly billing at the legacy cost, I really can't afford to lose that. One of them is old enough that it was a troubleshooting exercise for the early group transfer process.

Yes, only the group's creation date matters.

Unfortunately, there is no bulk delete capability for hashtags (nor is there for most other groups.io functions). You'll have to do them one at a time.

And then re-set up the original 20 and change the posting settings so that members can only post using one of those 20?

There are also some system hashtags that would be recreated (when used) if they're deleted.  Examples would be #cal-invite, #file-notice, #poll-notice, etc.

Is bulk deletion of unnecessary hashtags possible? #hashtags

Christine Page

Hello, we have a group that we set up with originally around 20 hashtags, however, I did not do a good admin job and allowed new posts to create a new hashtag. This has resulted in over 8,000 hashtags (!!) now having been used, most only once, can I delete them all in bulk somehow. And then re-set up the original 20 and change the posting settings so that members can only post using one of those 20?
Thanks
Christine

The only way to sponsor a group is to use a credit card or Paypal.  Either way, they'd have a receipt in their records.

Dear Bruce,
YES! by email :-) Can all members view their own activity to see if a record of sponsorship is present? A member who thought they provided sponsorship wasn't sure
and received no information as anticipated. I am new to this topic on groups.io so I am not sure what to expect. Thank you for any information that you can
provide.
