GMF Mission Statement:

We strive to be a resource of the highest quality for owners and moderators of Groups.io groups. We allow as much information as possible from our group to be accessed by visitors! Would you like to be a better Groups.io group owner and/or moderator? Would you like to see even more improvements in Groups.io groups? We discuss our experiences as both group owners and moderators, share ideas for promoting and customizing the content areas, and offer various techniques for managing groups.

Often times my group members have questions I can't answer. Can they go directly to this group for answers?
Sure, if they don't mind weeding through all the Moderator/Owner-type discussions. Group_Help may be a better fit.

I experienced the same issue with deleting a reminder for future events on a recurring event: the reminder was still sent.

Here's what I was able to find in the Beta group on the status of a fix: https://beta.groups.io/g/main/topic/74962529 . I don't know if there have been any later updates.

Ro and All,

Umm, No! I didn' t put in the "> " :-)) they must have been there; as here below.
[ ok, it is a setting in my emailer ]

I am an old bottom poster.

What I did was write "See below" at the top . Which Groups.io treats as a top post !

And then, after trimming my info from footer, put in my reply at the bottom. Like I always do.
Obviously not liked by this system.

OK,
Tony

So how did that happen? Did Tony put a ">" before every line of his

Bruce, switching to plain text mode allowed me to see the missing posts!  There were about 8 missing posts, each from a different sender;  there were 2 separate topics involved.  The attached screen shot shows what the email looked like.  Basically, it was blank like that.  When the scroll bar had been moved down about 80% of the way, the first visible post, 3b, shows up.

I did open one of the missing messages online.  There were no top-quotes.

Thanks for the partial work-around, but there are no active links in the plain text mode.  Any ideas on how to fix it so I don't have to go into plain text mode?  Your advice has been very helpful!
G.

OK so we keep the features..  My question is can we still add photos and files as before, or is adding new stuff blocked.
I have 3 groups I did the transfer from Yahoo.  One is definably over the 1GB limit, OK.
The other 2 are below 200MB and wont grow much due to the nature of what the group covers.  We still need to update the files occasionally but that is all.  Can I safely downgrade those 2?  I realize there are no guarantees about the future.

If it were me, I'd contact Mark/support to see if that's a mistake.  The multi-rates are relatively new and there may be a bug in the system.  Can't hurt to ask.

If I choose to change to monthly payments what happens to my billed amount? Is it calculated on the 110$ or does it raise me to the 220$ tier?
In other words, am I better off just paying for a year now. Or, can I pay for a few months and then a year all at the 110$ rate?
Thanks,

Go to the Members page, https://groups.io/g/[GroupName]/members and where it says Members on the blue button at the top, with a little down arrow, click it to select Bouncing from the list.

All of the official information is in the files in the Help Center and/or on the Comparison page.  You can often find additional information on the beta group, especially when a change is made.  Anything in the GMF wiki is what has been collected over time and doesn't get updated as often as it should sometimes, especially since the great Yahoo migration ended.  It's a volunteer effort, so anyone that notices an error there is welcome to fix it.

Based on recent questions, the major difficulty seems to be with some people's comprehension of the Help pages.  As far as I can tell, everything there is correct, but as Bruce mentioned, errors/omissions can be reported on the Docs group and are often updated (or expanded/clarified when needed.)

The GMF wiki says "Groups ... are grandfathered, and are "allowed" to have subgroups."
At one point, subgroups were going to be deleted when a post-Jan15 main group reverted to Basic. For whatever reason, Mark subsequently decided to lock them instead of deleting them. The wiki entry you're referring to dates to a time before that decision was made.

You've already been told that your subgroups are not going to disappear. Is it really important that it all be verbatim? If so, feel free to edit the page. GMF wiki pages are editable by any GMF member.

No, "verbatim" is not required but consistency is. When different terms with different meanings are used the reader is left wondering which one is to be trusted.

Yes, the Wiki page can be edited - other pages, such as the help and FAQ pages, cannot. In any case, for $220 per year for a simple mail service I would expect better. There is no excuse for leaving misinformation on a premium site for readers to be misled.

It is irrelevant what I have been told. I am by far not the only group manager looking for answers on the site. As is quite evident by the flood of questions being posted regarding forthcoming status changes that there is a lot of confusion and confused managers as to what will happen. If that does not say that the available information is deficient or ambiguous then what does?

Another ambiguity appears in the Help Center FAQ pages:
"All features become unavailable except those related to sending and managing messages."
What features, exactly, are those related and not related to managing messages?
You were previously referred to https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/25893. It says, in part:
Seems pretty straightforward, but if something remains ambiguous on your end, please provide examples of what you still need clarity on.

Again, it is irrelevant what I have been told. My comment is mostly for the benefit of new readers but in particular my question pertained to the "sending and managing messages". The link you provided discussed the general account features to be lost/retained, not the managing of an account. In fact, nowhere have I seen any other reference to managing messages other than this one so it is undefined as to what features are retained.

In general, someone needs to scrutinize the GIO site from the perspective of a new user/manager - not from how a well versed, experienced user perceives it.

Thanks, Duane!  I will do that.  🙂

Probably not.  There have been ongoing problems when editing repeating events.  Some changes 'take' and others don't.  Mark has made changes to the system, but it seems that events created before the changes won't use them.  The best option at the moment is to create a new event with the correct settings, then delete the original.  I suggest this order because you could open two tabs in the browser to make sure you copy everything over before deleting.
