I took the first one at face value and approved their membership of the

Yes, and while the moderator can approve them by replying to an e-mail
message, how do you ban them if it turns out that they are up to no good, if
all the web pages are being deleted?

Now, per the canned message, they will take the PGO archive too.  This on for
certain had no exposed membership emails.  For most groups, PGO wasn't a
choice they took back in Oct-Dec 2019.

Thanks for looking at this. I'll see what happens with some upcoming posts.

I think so in that my posts we're done on website, not via email.

Re: Anyone know how to access Yahoo Groups to delet my old groups or get my member list to move them over?

I would strongly recommend that you NOT delete your group.

there is ANOTHER option. you can simply remove ALL members from the group. That will have the same effect, but your group will still exist.

If you DELETE THE GROUP, then there will be NO proof or record that you can provide to Yahoo or anyone else that the group ever existed in the first place, or that you were the owner, or how long the group existed.

Please, to everyone here, please do NOT delete your Yahoo Group. If you do so, you diminish whatever influence you may currently have over Yahoo, and thereby you diminish the influence of ALL of us, as a group of community organizers and Yahoo Group Owner. thanks

There is an update on

That points to

At the bottom it has a contacts section. I also cannot open the EFNet links in my web browser...but the last one works.

Page also says:
Please be patient if no one replies right away, as it may be a few hours before someone who knows the answer is online. Also, try the hackint channel if you have difficulty connecting to EFNet. (Or please try a dedicated IRC client like HexChat or mIRC as sometimes the web interface to EFNet is broken.)

That explains the web browser issues.

Mark mentioned that he's working on implementing a new version of the search program, so it may be out of sync, behind, or a bug.  The only thing I've noticed is a delay in finding the latest messages.

You can already do that (and more).  You just have to pay for an Enterprise group...

You can't use them as variables, you'd have to create an invite for each person.  On the Invite page, it shows the boilerplate that will be included, as you showed.  Those are filled in by the system, if you furnish the information as Name <email @ domain> without the spaces.  If you don't include the Name, it will say Hello, without it.  You can't change what's there, only add to it.

Where were they? The answer may help future people with a similar question.

I don't know for sure, but my suspicion is that the bracket "flags" are used by the code only when it is processing that invite notice, not others.

Steve,

I'm concerned about this as well.  AND mainly our group's membership.

#invitation Using each person's email/name within the custom invite? #invitation

Jessica Jorgenson

Hello!
So groups.io has the basic invitation:

Hello [Name],
You have been invited by [so-and-so] to join the Groups.io group [group].
If you have questions about this invitation, send them to [owner email].
To accept the invitation, please reply to this email, or you may accept the invitation on the website.
If you are not interested, or if [Invitee Email Address] is not your email address, please ignore this email.
Cheers,
The Groups.io Team

I would like to use the [Name] and [Invitee Email Address] in a custom welcome message. I tried sending an invite using the hard brackets but it was no bueno.
Any help?
Thanks!

To the best of my knowledge, Yahoo has removed the ability to moderate posts. That is why I finally decided to delete the Yahoogroups I was owner of.

Follow-up:  In the topic that I replied to, both posts did eventually get indexed and show up in the search. The problem with a single post that never brings up its topic on a hashtag search persists...for now.

To be clear, the number next to the hashtag on the home page (and in the hashtag list) is the number of topics, not messages, associated with that hashtag. If you aren't seeing all the posts among your hashtag search hits, be sure to click the subject line -- or uncheck the "collapse topics" checkbox near the top -- to get them all to show up.

More to follow,

Steve -- I may end up eating these words.

If I do the same thing using New Topic from the web interface, it doesn't. Subsequent replies show up in a search, but not the message that created the hashtag.

Is this consistent with your own observations? I'm going to wait a few more hours and maybe test some other scenarios, but if the problem persists I'll report it in beta.
