[GaRRHistory] Need info on Rail layout for Griffin,GA in the late 1940's 2 messages
Steve, you may want to try posting this question on the CofG list. I am willing to bet that the CofG society has detailed maps of the Griffin yard. The Spalding county library may have Sanborn maps. T

Frank, I don't think it's one of the big hoppers. here's a closeup from the original photo, it looks like it's on a depressed center car. And if you notice the roof and lower sill lines of the boxcars

This photo was sent to me a couple days ago by someone that had "colorized" it. It's dated August 1964 at Denton, GA. Notice the oversize load about midway of the train. Wonder what this might have be

Don Hensley suggested it was something to do with the RFC (?) loan on the 'tagroute' yahoo forum: H Roger Grant in his "Rails through the Wiregrass" does state on pg 157 that the order was for nine GP

Not trying to hijack this topic but railfan scuttlebutt suggests that the G&F had options for three more GP7s but could not come up with the money. The 707, 708 & 709. Supposedly the TA&G picked them

I remember reading somewhere that John Skelton Williams intended on reaching or building a deep water seaport on the Gulf of Mexico. Do any of you have any ideas or suggestions as to where this might
