Sanborn maps for Augusta (and several other GA cities and towns) can be found at: http://dlg.galileo.usg.edu/sanborn/
I have used them to locate some of the photos in Langley's "Georgia and Florida RR Album." For example, the floating gas tank or "gasometer" shown in the background on page 32 in 1948 and on page 38 in 1963 shows clearly on the Sanborn maps.
