It sounds like a good idea. Allow Open Maps or Google maps to be preloaded where you think the balloon will go. Have a North Compass on the map (if map rotates), and bearing and distance to the balloo

Great idea adding an elevation calculation. I do it in my head with varying accuracy because it's a great experience for the new to near space to see the balloon at 100,000 feet.

APRS.fi always shows metric units in my cellphone. Is anyone who tracking with a smart phone know how to switch the default to imperial units? Thanks

Paul, The bottom box on the right shows distance to the balloon and the direction indicator in words (like NNE). I wanted to be able to run this on a 1024 x 768 display so I didn't include the bearing

Jerry, I'm with you that the existing programs do only part of the job. I still use APRSPlus, not only due to inertia, but because it has offline maps and the display can be configured to give essenti

Jerry, Looks like a very cool/useful program. Definitely, continue development. What more? Weather data, perhaps. I can help with beta testing if you need. Cheers, David Fields N4HBO

I'd like it to show a compass rose and range to the balloon. I'd like to see your final product.

Update on HIRF(w)-6
For those that may not know, I have a long duration balloon that has been aloft since 9/20/2016! 😊 I actually had a second one, that went to 277+ days. I suppose I should update the record information

Eclipse Launch Southeast Missouri State University
Anyone know who is leading this launch and recovery effort. I was planning on going up there to view the eclipse and I thought I would see if they needed any assistance. Thanks, Tony W5ADC

SP9UOB running Contestia mode is over Idaho
For those who can listen on 144.251 MHz USB with Contestia 32/1000 mode, you can copy SP9UOB-10 who is over Idaho and heading SE. He is about 3/4 of the way around the World. - Bill WB8ELK
