I think your best bet is to find someone to help out with the tracking. As Jeff pointed out, the spot tracker is a good option. Many of us use it as a backup.

I did my first APRS balloon flight with our Boy Scout troop about 2-3 years ago.
Prep for electronics and balloon took months....and I still was somewhat "flying blind".
