What a total BS story. It could be an amateur balloon for all we know. Many amateur floaters have overflown countries such as North Korea. Where is the proof that it's from the Chinese government? It

HBAL617 is not the Chinese balloon. It's a Thunderhead balloon -superpressure- made by Aerostar. It was launched on Feb. 1st from Santa Fe County, New Mexico.

I think with a little advanced notice, the ARHAB community it could launch a latex balloon on an intercept course. Perhaps close enough to get photos.
