HBAL617 is not the Chinese balloon. It's a Thunderhead balloon -superpressure- made by Aerostar. It was launched on Feb. 1st from Santa Fe County, New Mexico.

Visible from KC Metro looking NE about 30min ago according to NWS KC. They said moving SE into central MO

I think with a little advanced notice, the ARHAB community it could launch a latex balloon on an intercept course. Perhaps close enough to get photos.
