Re: AV Equipment for GPSL

Bill Brown

I have some slides I'd like to show if possible....is there a Carousel style
slide projector available at the university or could someone bring one?

Also, since I've been working 80 hour weeks with no end in sight....I might
not make it until after noon on the 5th, so please schedule me in the
afternoon for my talk.

See you all soon,

- Bill WB8ELK

Herington airport will be the launch site

Mark Conner <n9xtn@...>

Spoke with Don and Paul this evening. Herington airport will
definitely be the launch site for Saturday.

Paul also wanted me to make sure everyone knows that you *will*
need a free one-day permit to park in the lot marked on Ralph's
web page. For those of you who haven't been on a college campus
in a while, be assured that they will very likely check for
permits. You can get one at the info kiosk after 8am on Friday.

For EOSS and ANSR: Please bring all your stuff! We should have
enough hands to get all 8 airborne, and should have enough
chasers to get everyone recovered. We should have plenty of fill
devices for the balloons, and we can launch in two groups if
necessary.

Since we're not launching at the JNSC, Paul is looking at moving
the dinner earlier to 6pm. We'll probably have a final session
at the library to finalize our frequencies and payload manifests.

The PC at the library has PowerPoint on it, and the DVD-ROM in it
should read CDs. The VCR also switches through the LCD projector
as well as the PC. Nice comfy chairs, and tables at the back of
the room for exhibiting payloads if you want.

Re: ANSR participation at GPSL

Don Pfister <ka0jlf@...>

I just talked to Paul on the cell phones. Michael, Paul said the same thing I
did - there will be plenty of people to help, please bring your balloon and
launch with us. Michael, please don't put off launching because you are the only
one from your group. I know we can round up help for you. If you want a
navigator or driver to help you chase I'm sure we can handle that too.

Paul also said we will launch from Herington. He and I will take the helium
tanks there tomorrow and lock them in the hanger.

Mark, Paul tried to contact you but I forget what he wanted me to tell you. ;-)
Senior life is great! (I think it was the above)

Paul will check email tomorrow after we pickup (possibly) deliver the helium.

More to follow! ;-)

Mark,

Since I will be the only ANSR guy attending, I don't think I can
launch a balloon by myself. I will bring our Payload Computer
(cross band repeater/tracking system) and Micro Beacon in case we
want to fly them on another balloon train. I'll also have equipment
to track and recover if necessary. If nothing else, I can help with
the launch on Saturday morning.

Michael, I would suggest you bring your stuff. I have at least 5 members coming
with my group. I think we will be ok. Our members can assist you. "Never give

Hi Harry, if you hear KD5SFW in Tulsa tell her "her dad says HI". I'm not sure

We have a 3 pound Payload Computer that has a cross band repeater,
flight data recorder, and DTMF commanding. We also have a 1 pound
APRS beacon. I can also help out with T & R or just help with the
launch day activities.

Mark, I guess it is your call if we move launch sites. I didnt' think we would
decide until later, possibly Friday. I guess Paul needs to know now. I'll check
on the locked area. I had thought we would store them at JNSC.

I'll try to get Paul and answer and call him.

I'm in the area. Anyone who plans to be here on the 4th, do you have
plans for dinner? Call me at (208) 631-7162 and leave a message.
Perhaps several of us can get together. I'll try getting on the MAARS
repeater this evening, but don't rely on finding me there.

AV Equipment

pverhage1960 <paul.verhage@...>

Okay, folks, I just checked everything out. The AV cart has a VCR and
PC. There is a 3.5" floppy disk drive and a DVD drive in the PC. I
was able to connect my laptop to the cart and project the presentation
stored on my laptop. I also ran my presentation from the PC off of my
floppy. Powerpoint 2000 is installed on the PC. The PC also has an
internet connection, but you must use Internet Explorer, not Netscape.
I also switched in the VCR without a problem.

The overhead projector wasn't in the room, so my Mother reserved it
for Friday.

Reservations and Parking

pverhage1960 <paul.verhage@...>

Sirloin Stockade has us down for dinner. The Gold Fork doesn't accept
reservations, but they made a note to themselves to expect up to 30
people for lunch. They'll try to put us all in the same corner.

The visitor booth at the front of the campus opens at 8:00 AM. A one
day visitor's parking pass is free. Be sure to ask for one when you
get to the campus.

I'll be testing my laptop on the library's AV cart in about 30
minutes.
