Re: ublox max 7

You have to set the MAX-7Q up for Airborne mode to make it work and it will fail at 40,000 feet if you don't. - Bill WB8ELK

Here is how I do it:

unsigned char setNav[] = {
    0xB5, 0x62, 0x06, 0x24, 0x24, 0x00, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0x06, 0x03, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x10, 0x27, 0x00, 0x00, 0x05, 0x00, 0xFA, 0x00, 0xFA, 0x00, 0x64, 0x00, 0x2C, 0x01, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x16, 0xDC  };

//  Set uBlox MAX series to Airborne Mode

   for(int i=0; i<44; i++){ //

// The whole GPS_setup routine:(put the setNav array shown above in Global variable section or in the function)

// ****************************************/
void setupGPS()
// *****************************************
  // setup serial port for u-Blox MAX-7C GPS new 110115
    Serial.begin(9600); // to talk to GPS Modem via RX and TX pins 0 and 1

// Configure uBlox MAX to only output GGA and RMC messages
//  Serial.println("$PUBX,40,GGA,0,0,0,0*5A");
//  delay(1000);
//  Serial.println("$PUBX,40,RMC,0,0,0,0*47");
//  delay(1000);

// Set up uBlox MAX series to Airborne Mode
   for(int i=0; i<44; i++){ //
   Serial.end(); // new 110115
// ---------------end of setupGPS()----------------------/

You can check to see if you have successfully configured the uBlox MAX to be set for Airborne mode by looking at the response to this command:

unsigned char checkNav[] = {0xB5, 0x62, 0x06, 0x24, 0x00, 0x00, 0x2A, 0x84};

    for(int i=0; i<sizeof(checkNav); i++){
