The Alabama & Western Florida Railroad was incorporated in 1926 to acquire the property of the bankrupt Birmingham, Columbus & St. Andrews Railroad.  It operated from Chipley to South Port, FL, a distance of 38 miles

The BC&StA was incorporated in 1903 with the intention of building a railroad from Chipley, FL, to Columbus, GA, with (according to Poor's Manual) a branch to Birmingham, AL.

The BC&StA entered bankruptcy and was sold at the Special Master's sale and was reorganized as the Alabama & Western Florida Railroad.

This line was abandoned in 1939.
