What to do in Strong winds and gusts
The profurl can be stiff at times. Needs to be lubed top and bottom and must have decent tension to pull it straight otherwise the bowed extrusion will not spin especially when windy and bowed more. T

Roller Furner
People always explain why they prefer the boat berth head but I want to know what happens when people are seated at the table or sleeping overnight and someone needs to use the head. How well does it

Safety on the Side Decks!
I find I walk on the cabin too. The mast is too far from the side decks anyway. We have a lazy bag and full battened main to simplify mainsail handling. Always close the main hatch before going forwar

Tohatsu Sailpro vs Nissan 9.8 observations
We slide up to the bulkhead when sailing to windward because it makes a big difference in performance. Keep the weight low on the ends. If the waterline on the transom is underwater then it's too low

Boomkicker installation
Forgot to include releasing the topping lift so the leach can be properly tensioned, which you need in a blow. Nick 516 765 1628

Boomkicker installation
On my previous boat, both ends of the topping lift were adjustable. You can’t always reach the tack end of the boom when you want to reef so its good to be able to go to the mast and take the load off

Demast & step the mast howto?
I would suggest not using the bow pulpit to support the mast. Support it with a frame on the foredeck. Nick 516 765 1628

Center of lateral resistance
I would emphasize that our small hull is sensitive to being rough or fouled. A bad bottom could cause enough leeway to seem like a lee helm Nick 516 765 1628

Teak Cap Rail Replacement Winter '15
Makes a good case for scraping, not sanding your wood trim and handrails. Scraping does not remove as much wood and creates a smoother surface. Nick 516 765 1628

Outboard vs. Diesel for Flickas
Interesting comments about the optimum hp. Keep in mind the diesel puts out a max of 8 hp and we run at less rpm really using about 4-6. People with 10 hp outboards are also running at low rpm. People

Roaming at Anchor
All of my boats have swung at anchor and I don't have a problem with it. You need to swing when the wind changes. You need to swing with all the other boats otherwise you'll collide. I keep my gps on
