Re: Ribbon cables problem with FTDX-101D

I had problem with button lockup, but found it was faulty hand mic that came with radio. Try unplugging mic and turning off, then back on.

Based on the serial number, my MP was made in Jan 2021. Here're the software versions. No different than the known current release.

Would you have a version of your SDR to IF in English by any chance? I went to translate – but figured I’d ask before I start downloading packages to help with that….

Great repository of information – Many Thanks!!!

Most likely on your dealer's invoice but probably also on the original box on the outside.

Hi,

Unfortunately, I also share with you and wait and hope ...  ;-)

I would not want to irritate the privacy of anyone but I received info directly from YAESU support, was from the beginning of February and announced news: the correction of almost problems communicated.
Not improvements but real corrections of what still does NOT work correctly today:
from KEYER to various CAT commands, changes on volumes hysteresis, PSK errors in LSB MODE, etc ... up to a couple of hardware fixes ALC/SWR...
Unfortunately with my poor English, I was not able to explain well some things that I replied again explaining them in the best way.
Certainly, however, that their programming team certainly could already be aware of it.

I am not aware that the new D/MP have a new corrected and not communicated FW, I don't believe it, perhaps hardware mods probable, but I personally checked at least 4x FTDX101 and they all had the same problems described in the BUG_LIST (even just purchased with late 2020 serials): 202004 is the same for everyone ...

I had already submitted the first bug_list as early as July, with the reply that the information had been sent to technical support.
After the last request on February 2nd I received a reply with the specific "...later this week..." which seems to me to say everything by itself ....
But over a month still nothing ...

I don't know anything else.

Some corrections I have reconstructed by myself (home made) with some algorithms, within my FTDX101CAT & SPLITTER software in a rather simple way, other corrections are impossible without an intervention on the fw.

It is to be hoped that with this wait some nice surprises will be added together with the fixed corrections and that I hope they are done in the best way.

I'm also waiting like everyone else...

Re: High swr modification/fix failed

Lou W7HV

Hi Justin,  I'm a little out of the loop on this.  I have an new MP (manufactured in Jan 21) so would like to understand the issue.   From your posts, I gather there is a known issue with the ATU on the MP.  What exactly is that issue?  Does the ATU fail to reach a tune when presented with loads of  SWR 3:1 and lower? Does it report High SWR for loads of SWR 3:1 or below or just not reach a low SWR?  I have an MP so how would I go about trying to reproduce the problem?   I haven't systematically tested mine, but have used it on 80-10m and it's worked OK, even in a few cases presented with SWRs between 3:1 and 3.5:1.

I'm also curious if the repair was done by the Yaesu service department or another shop and if was it in USA or another country?

I dont understand your reply, the tuner works on hf and 50 mhz, this is clearly stated in the extensive supplied user guide.

Antenna tuner Matching impedance range 16.7 to 150Ω (1.8~29.7 MHz)
25 to 100Ω (50 MHz)

Re: High swr modification/fix failed

Justin <2E0EUG@...>

Hi Lou, yes its a known issue with the MP, Yaesu have issued a modification which apparently will be released soon to the public according to someone on this forum, unfortunatly it seems its not a complete fix, I am waiting for the engineer to get back to me next week but it looks like the radio will have to go back again, to be honest I will not be buying Yaesu again, so far this radio has had the finals fail and this swr tuner issue, although its a nice radio part of me thinks I should have got the 890

Rx audio on rear USB from both rx'ers

Glenn VK4DU

Hello all

I am an experienced WSPR user, and have been trying to get it going on the 101.  Got the rear USB connected up, driver good, audio going into the WSPR program at the right level....but no decodes..

Investigated, and it turns out that the rear USB send rx audio from both rx'ers....turned 1 rx off, and all good.  Decoding fine.

I dug through the manual, and can't find a way to switch the rx audio from one rx off on the USB port...

If I could switch the rx audio off, I could dedicate one rx to WSPR, and use the other one for CW...

Ideas?

You need to know what first was the swr on 10 m if it was designed to found a match or not.

Re: Auto Antenna Tuner - MP

F5PNI

I probably explained it wrong too.
If your SteppIr antenna is tuned to send a 1: 1 image, your 101 Tuner will tune for the first time to make the correct adjustment, but if there is 1: 1, it means that your antenna impedance is correct.
So it will go into Bypass mode while being activated, as long as you do not start again a forced tuning of the tuner.
Because in his memory, it is recorded that the last time the agreement was OK.
Except if you distort the system while being with your SteppIr out of tune, the tuner will not know it, without again restarting the measurement and forced adjustment.
I want to understand that the 101 is not perfect, like other RIGs, but you should not look for the defect where there is none.

And I confirm, max tuner possibility is 3:1, you can read this in your user manual...

Re: Auto Antenna Tuner - MP

Lou W7HV

Yes.  I haven't quantified it, but there is an SWR threshold above which it will refuse to tune.  It'll click, and immediately quit.  It worked for me around SWR 3.5 on a few occasions, but of course it won't remember the tune.  I figure it's only rated for 3, so going much beyond that is pushing things.  The currents and voltages experienced in the ATU can go up at greater mismatches.  My other rig's ATUs are also only rated for 3.  Elecraft's internal ATUs are a notable exceptions.

I believe over 3:1 rig flashes High SWR and doesn't adjust.

This information regarding the 2:1 SWR minimum to trigger the antenna tuner is helpful - thanks.
Perhaps I was not clear in the description of my experiment to see if the tuner was working or not.
I will try again.
On 12 meters, I tuned up both the SteppIR and the MP and had 1.1:1  SWR.
I then did the same on 30 meters, again achieving 1.1:1 SWR on 30 meters.
I chose 12 and 30 meters hoping that harmonically they would be different enough to see a difference when I switched between them.
I went back to 12 meters, but this time leaving both the SteppIR and the MP tuned to 30 meters, and with both the MP tuner and the autotrack off.  For those unfamiliar with the SteppIR, autotrack automatically readjusts the SteppIR as one changes frequency - one can turn it on or off.
Into this purposely mistuned system, the SWR was high, as expected.
I then turned the antenna tuner on in the MP expecting the wheels to turn to try to make a match on 12 meters.
Nothing heard from the MP and the SWR remained high.
Was it because the SWR was over 5 that the MP did not even try to make a match, or do I have a problem?

I am currently of the same mind of Bria.
The thing that worries me is tha even on the videos of the Yaesu Ftdx10 i found the same limits.
We just have to wait, but i thing with regret that i will buy another brand.
