Hi All

I would make all users aware that if you set the SPE fan noise to quiet in anything else but SSB (this this can introduce the first CW character to become garbled) my advice is always leave the fan noise setting to NORMAL MODE (ALL MODES)

Fascinating....and surprising, at best. And they want $75 for a
simple straight through DB15 and RCA cable.... Not for me!

When you tire of having to turn the Quadra on to get to an antenna, do what several of us have done and build your own BAND DATA 1 cable.

Indeed, that is what I read in the manual also.

i made a cable that connects the ftdx101mp to band data 1 and alc 1  on the quadra . that way the amp can stay off and feed thru as long as the v/p 1000 is switched on from the front panel

Just received my 101d after owning and running the FT2000 for nearly 23 years with the Quadra.  Am I wrong in concluding the connection from the 101d to the Quadra can be a simple "straight thru" male/male DB15, with a separate RCA/RCA connection for the ALC???  That's how I read the pinouts.

Hi
Also if you recorded a message you then can analyze it with the AF-FFT your frequency voice peak during the transmission. One way to see what the equalizer does.
Off voice subject, there are many front panel function keys that will have 2 functions depending if you just pressed or holding them for 2 seconds.
This is good for everyone to read the operator manual time to time ,,,

Re: TX screen control?

Brian Smithson <brianesmithson@...>

Jack, if you select "MULTI" you will see an oscilloscope on the left and AF-FFT on the right, as well as the waterfall above it. When you transmit, those waveforms will reflect the transmitted audio. Each can be adjusted for gain/attenuation and resolution/time intervals.

In addition, on my radio, I see two meters at the top when I transmit and both can be changed with regard to what they display - Power out, compression, and Temp on the left, ALC, VDD, ID, and SWR on the right.

None of this seems useless to me, and I think this is what Ray was alluding to.

TX screen control?

I've only had this radio a few days so probably missing something....   Anyway is there a way to "manage" the TX screens?   Mine switches to big audio scope and no second meter on alternate transmissions.  Very annoying and pointless.  Is there a menu for this somewhere?

No it doesn't, I HAVE tried it. Even with the monitor level on "11"

SSB yes, CW no

Fred,
I have not tried it but if you put MONI on to get the sidetone from the
101, I would expected what I hear on the headphones to come out of AF Out.
In which case you would either get received audio or sidetone.

Apologies if this does not work, I will try it later as I would like to
sort it for CQWW.

Re: Recording CW sidetone

I use OBS to livestream.

In SSB using MONI on the 101D, the viewing audience can hear both my radio and my microphone, however in CW, they can hear the radio, and they can also hear me sending CW but it has no audible sidetone, sounds like a series of silent pulses.

As you would expect, in the headphones, the tone is clear as day and loud if wanted to be.

So, it would appear the sidetone is sent to the headphones but does not go out the USB audio Codec.

I will keep an eye on this thread also.

Thanks
