I never operated 60 meters before ( 5.3 MHZ ). Today on the cluster I saw a DX station so thought I would try it on my MP. I looked and yes 5357 was one of the 5 channels we can operate on at 100 watts PEP. I went there and my MP would not transmit to my surprise. Before you ask, yes it was on the 5.0 band. What am I missing or overlooking? Might be time to call Tim Factor on this????

My FTDX 101D draws 3.2 amps in receive, 3.5 amps with single VC Tune invoked.

Re: CW Mode: RF continuous carrier only tho' CW Monitor sounds perfect

My "chat" with Yaesu today went about as well as I expected.  They and the radio have no problem.  I could not extract an answer to why the sidetone sounded OK when the RF carrier was full key-down.  The person would not even engage.

I attempted measured the resistance of the WInKeyer keying line when not keying to see if there was some leakage problem.  Nothing to read on a multi-mega ohm meter.

I am completely out if ideas to try.  Please feel free to offer any suggestions.

It's just too bad Yaesu doesn't monitor this forum.

Perhaps someone should send Tim Factor (the Tech at Yaesu in Cypress, CA) a link and an invitation...

Maybe he'd join and offer input (unless Yaesu factory doesn't permit it).

My Winkeyer USB works fine connected to the rear key jack.

Using a WinKeyer USB and the front CW jack, there is no problem.  On the other hand, the solid carrier is presented with the WInKeyer USB on the rear CW jack.  The problem does not exist with a normal hand key so I though there might be some "ground loop" issue with the WinKeyer itself, and so reversed the leads confident of a solution.  Nope!  There's something about the WinKeyer and the rear CW port that aren't compatible - regardless of how beautiful the sidetone sounds.

At this point, I don't see Yaesu becoming involved.

How do you we KNOW Yeasu does not monitory this group?   The fact it
does not constantly step in to shape and control the discussion, as do
some competing outfits, does not mean Yaesu is not reading and listening.

I know for a fact ICOM representatives monitor the IC-7610 group -
because I received a big package of promotional goodies as a thank you
for posting helpful comments thereon.  ICOM reps rarely post messages,
but they really DO monitor the discussion - and I suspect Yaesu monitors
what goes down here, too.

Update,

Formatting a card in a 101MP may or may not work, but it did not work for me.  But that is not to say it was a failure of the process or idea behind the process.

I ended up on the phone with Yaesu tech support, and the guy was very friendly, knew exactly what I was facing, and told me a test to try.  It failed the test, and he issued me an RMA.

So it's on it's way back to Yeasu.

Thank you Shriver and W4DSD for your responses.

I agree... Ya can't please all of the people, any of the time! Hihi.

At first, I thought the scope was "too fast", particularly because it seemed that way, when compared to the 7300.  But after a while, it has come to be perfectly natural and normal.  I rather like the "real time" feel of the fast scope.  Now, when I go back and use the 7300, it seems slow and clunky, like it's running in molasses.

An adjustable "smoothing" or averaging would be nice, but I'd probably leave it set to fast, now...

If an engineer from YAESU watch this thread he would only shake his head. ;o)

I remember a time a few years ago where people said:
"This spectrum is not real-time, it is too slow! We want it fast!"

Now we have a real-time scope and people say:
"This is too fast, it makes me nervous! We need averaging!"

Pffffff….

PS: I like it the way it is. And yes, it could be adjustable, but it is more searching the hair in the soup. Nothing to worry about from an engineers perspective.

I wonder if the CPU has sufficient free clock cycles to handle the large amount of data for averaging the screen for both receivers?

I also agree with the proposals off Gary. Also the pep at the power meter.
The TX-RQ is a must for easy tuning purposes.
I hope Yaesu to listen to the yaesu ops.

I have been waiting so patiently YAESUE.  When are we going to get Screen Averaging?  I’ve been told by your service rep that it is on your radar for a future firmware upgrade.  Come on, It’s been a year..
And while you’re at it, a TX-REQ menu option to lower the power out would also make a lot of sense.
