Thanks again John,
I have not ordered to FTdx101MP as yet. Still working out the details!! So far looks like I'll be ordering it soon... 73, Ted K2QMF

Re: FTdx 101MP Question
If by "lit", you mean selected, then yes.
Once the output power function is assigned to CS function, then the "CS" function button must be engaged to enable the outer ring control the RF power. If one of the other "outer ring" buttons is selected, then that is the function active on the ring. However, a quick press of the CS button, and the RF power output control is again active. 73's, Alan KV6ARM

Re: FTdx 101MP Question
You might set your maximum HF power output to 50 watts in the '101 and not risk bumping the C.S ring when active. See Func, Operation Setting, TX General. John K7FD

Re: FTdx 101MP Question
Yes it does. A slight tap (or small rotation) of the ring makes the RF power output pop-up on screen. It doesn't do it WHILE your transmitting, only during receive.

Hi Alan,
Does the RF Output power show without transmitting when you tap on the ring? Ted K2QMF

Re: FTdx 101MP Question
I have the "CS" control (user-selectable outer-ring function) set for RF output adjustment. Keeps the power function readiliy available. A slight tap on the ring gives the current power output setting, and allows quick adjustment when necessary. I find it to be fairly convenient, although Yaesu should've provided a dedicated knob for Xmit power...

Re: FTdx 101MP Question
Ted
Hi John,
Yes I would have the same problem as you!! At present I have an FTdx 5000 and a KPA 1500!! I must make sure of the drive power before keying the amp or it will fault!! It sure would be nice to know the Drive power before keying... Actually the FTdx 5000 shows the power setting when you turn the RF PWR knob before transmitting. It seems they went backwards with the FTdx101MP... 73, Ted K2QMF

Re: FTdx 101MP Question
Not that I know of. I wish it did. A nice feature on the Icom 7300 and 7610 is the power output percentage shows on the splash screen when you power up the radio. I find myself hitting the Yaesu's menu button to confirm power output quite often. Or the custom select button. My KPA500 screams like a banshee when I fail to do so...and hit it with the incorrect drive level. Ouch. John K7FD

FTdx 101MP Question

Hello All,
When you adjust the power out can you set the screen so that the power value remains on the screen?? So you will know, at a glance, the power out setting!! FTdx101/Quadra interconnect better solution
Why Yaesu choose to use BAND DATA 2 with the Quadra amplifier is beyond me - makes little to no sense. Using the CT-178 cable, the amplifier had to be on in order to use an antenna through INPUT 2 (corresponding to BAND DATA 2).
A younger friend made up a BAND DATA 1 cable for me for use with the radio and now, all works as expected (and how it always has with other Yaesu radios), regardless whether the Quadra is on or not. CT-178 cable for sale!

FTDX3000 vs FTDX101D
Wolf Dietmar Dr. Gröne
I currently have a Ftdx3000 with 300hz CW filter and mostly working CW.
Has anyone swapped their FTdx3000 into an FTDX101D? Is the Ftdx101D so much better that it is worth buying? Where are the outstanding advantages? Thanks for the answer. Dietmar DK3BG

I’ve probably done that much rock and roll, any many years of radio with headphones. According to my hearing tests at age 25 and now, the damage was done before age 25. Since, I’ve worn earplugs or in ears, and they’ve gotten no worse. I do keep the volume control at 9:00 o’clock though.

What exactly were you monitoring? I have 50 years of hamming, music listening and professional monitoring with headphones no problem and I suspect my inner ears are no more robust than most. I did pay attention to levels as I definitely wanted to preserve my hearing for professional reasons and personal enjoyment.

In fact, the loudest music I have been subjected to was rock concerts (bring ear plugs in case), home audiophiles and audio show demonstrators who thought loud was "impressive" (not) and worst car stereo enthusiasts rum amuck. The worst problem I encounter is server farms with terrible loud fans and cooling systems. Good for the gear, not for the ear. There is a lot to be said for noise cancelling headphones, I use them on the train during my commute to NYC and in any noisy environment to bring down noise levels about 20 db. 73 Kevin K3OX

If you keep the SPL to the inner ears the same, it has the same impact. In fact, shutting out other noise in your location may facilitate listening at lower volumes.

If you haven't already, try that VC gadget. Man does it knock out the noise! I used it for the ARRL DX CW just a few days after receiving my 101D and was stunned at how well it reduced my suburban noise leaving nothing but beautiful CW tones.
Like others here I'd like a way to average the spectral display but other than that I wouldn't change a thing. I just graduated from the FTDX-3000 and also have an IC-7300 I use for picnic table portable. The 101 is spoiling me. Rob NN4NT
