Robert, now that makes sense. That's why there's different versions per module. So it looks like the radio supports a modular software upgrade procedure. And if you suspect an issue with a particular software module, like the main, or the menu display, you can choose a different version to upgrade or downgrade too. Now, is there a software release note that details what's been fixed, what old bugs were found and what bugs are still existing? I can't seem to find any of this? Thanks, Angelo

Thanks for the info Robert. I’ve edited my response. What happens if you update one module that calls upon or depends on a feature in another module you didn’t update? That would be my concern in picking and choosing what gets updated.

I don't update the modules individually. They are usually updated as a package, which is downloaded from the Yaesu webpage as mentioned by others. However it has been reported that an individual module can be updated if desired.

Thanks Guys, I couldn't tell because I saw the same numbers for the main, but some of the modules are different. Not sure if there's documentation that shows how to interpret the software version because it looks like it's per module, example by Main, DSP, SDR etc. So not sure if you can just upgrade each individually, or if you just go by the number showing for Main. Thanks, Angelo

Hi Angelo.
The software version in your radio IS the 202105 available on the Yaesu Website.
So upgrading would be perfectly useless.
No new firmware for FTDX101 on Yaesu web site yet.
Only the new one for FT10.

Hello everyone and thanks for the replies ...... about Scott, my 101 is the "D" version with external power supply via Alinco DM-330MVE 30 Ampere stabilized power supply. I do not think it is a voltage drop problem because I repeat the problem is also in reception with minimal current absorption. I believe more in a problem due to the connection between radio and PC as someone said. I should disconnect all the connections and wait for the problem to recur and this is a waste of time because the problem can occur even after several hours. I hope this is it, otherwise I would have to send the radio for assistance and this is a nuisance. I do not see other causes that can give shutdown problems. Honestly, in addition to the already known problems of the 101 I would not like this to be added too, it would be really too much for a radio paid 3.400 Euros in Italy.
Best regards to all and a hug from "" southern Italy "" and happy new year to you and your family.

So as you can see your radio is up to date as of that May 2021 release... A new update is in the wings... it has just not made it on STAGE yet.... Art W1SWL

FTDX101D software version question?
#ftdx101mp
Angel Olavarrieta
Hi Fellow FTDXers,
My radio came with the following Software version: Main: V01-22, Display: V01-08, Main DSP:V01-07, Sub DSP: V01-07, Main SDR:V02-06, SUB SDR: V02-06, AF DSP:V01-00. And I see FTDX101_Firmware_update_202105 available on the Yaesu website. My question is two fold, how can I tell which version is what, i.e how to read this? Also, is there any release notes that includes current known bugs, etc. How can I tell if this code makes sense to upgrade too or if I could potentially breake something that's currently working? Is there like a recommended software release publication Yaseu site, or 3rd party? I'm not sure if I should upgrade to this release on the website or not. I'm coming from on IT Cisco Systems background where not all new software releases make sense. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, 73 N2YWL Angelo Happy New Year to everyone.... Thanks, Angel

Let's hope for a good result, I'm trying right now!

You can use a SDR Online to monitor your signal. You will see how your real signal looks like.

Been there and done that. After lots of adjusting those settings, looking at graphs on Audacity, audio quality reports from others, and if other people can’t see it any splatter or signal on both sides during SSB Tx, then I don’t care.

If you see your signal at both sides during USB/LSB then you need to adjust your mic gain, AMC and PROC.

I, too, was very surprised to see my signal on Tx. It looks like I'm splattering all over the place, not staying "on my side" of the carrier in SSB. However, other stations have confirmed that my signal is clean as can be :)
