Re: Images above 30MHz
Eric
You'll find lots of phantom transmissions above 30mhz including Broadcast and Amateur signals.

Rejean Leveille
They are outside amateur bands 30 - 50 mhz from local commercials transmitters and not an issue with 50 & 70 mHz. The results will vary with your location.
I almost never scan these frequencies. Rejean

Images above 30MHz
Hi,
I'm seeing users of the FTDX10 reporting SWBC images above 30MHz. Has anyone experienced this on their FTDX-101D/MP? I had a similar problem with a then new FT-950. I went through 3 FT-950's from 2 different dealers before I got a good one. HRO was able to duplicate the problem on the radio I purchased form them. Tnx, Mike

Also, you might look a the the exploded views in the the technical supplement in the files section of this forum. Here's a link to the tech supplement: https://groups.io/g/FTDX101D/files/FTDX-101D%20Enable%2060%20and%204m.pdf

Thank you Rene
it's very kind of you to send me the photo to access the problem without damaging anything.
So to access it, I remove the top cover - flip the post over and remove the bottom cover. That's right.

Re: FTdx101D hookup to Acom A1200S
This is true, however I don’t want a load of error messages every time I go to the band. It’s just annoying Yaesu don’t output the band data correctly.

I would suggest that since the 60 meter band is limited to 100W PEP ERP (i.e. dipole:Gain antenna must subtract gain to achieve ERP) then there appears to be no need for the amp to even be turned on when using the 60 meter band. K5FUV

I know my message is nearly 1 year later but I just found the same thing. NO band data is sent by the FTDX101 for the 60m band. The linear remains o whatever band it was on before switching to the 60m band. Was this ever resolved do you know?

If you press the mode button and find “preset” selected it stops the voice memories from going into TX. It was switched on after the last firmware update by default ????. Just ensure it is not selected and the voice memories will work as normal

An update: I dd a master reset on the radio (FUNC->EXTENSION->RESET) and now Voice Memory Playback is working properly i.e. RF is coming out without me also pushing PTT.
I must've set some configuration option that messed this up (but I don't know which one).

Adrian, I don't often spend much time reading each post. But the image

Re: creak
FWIW: The D does not have a separate heatsink for the finals but instead mounts the two power transistors directly to the die cast chassis. The MP PA does have a separate internal spreader plate and large heat sink that fastens to a somewhat different die cast chassis. This can be seen in Exploded View 4 in the Technical Supplement.

Re: creak
Roger Hartel
Normal, the radio is comprised of many different materials with many different TCE's. As the system heats and cools differential thermal coefficient causes the noises. In the TV business we had a design spec for cabinet creak on cool down. That was important in markets where the sleeping quarters were in the same area where the TV set was.

Re: creak
hello
Thank you for your explanations.
Indeed it must come from there. Because currently listening I hear nothing - but as soon as I go on show, after a while I hear this famous cracking.
I think it is indeed a dillatation of the metal. my friends

Voice Memory transmission
Tim Shoppa
On my FTDX101D, I can use the screen and "REC/PLAY" menu to succesfully record voice messages.
I have BK-IN on and am in USB mode. Playing back the message keys the radio and plays back the message over the internal speaker, but no transmit power is developed. If I push down on mic PTT switch before doing the playback, then transmit power comes out from the voice message. Again, I have BK-IN on. I must've set some other option that is interfering with actual transmission? Any hints? Tim N3QE
