What level should the Receiving Level be for WSJT?
Since getting the rig to work with the USB Virtual drivers I notice things are a bit different. The Volume Control has no effect on the Receiving Level. It is staying right around the 60 dB level when the AGC is set for AUTO. If I turn OFF the AGC it can peak up into the red and the volume control still has no noticeable effect on the level. I don't see a noticeable difference when adjusting the audio
level for either of the USB CODEC's. Is this normal behavior? I was running with an Interface device using USB prior to switching to USB Virtual ports, which allowed me to get rid of a lot of wiring and a couple pieces of equipment. With that setup the Volume Control did have an effect on the Receiving Level. I'm sorry to have so many questions but being a Newbie to SDR radios I am a fish out of water. Every day is a new learning experience. Thank you to all the people that have offered assistance. 73 Walt, W6SA

Re: CW keying waveform with the 202104 software
One thing I do is load the CW (or voice) memories, use them to transmit into a dummy, and listen on another rig on a dummy or antenna, whichever gives adequate signal levels. That way I can hear for myself what it sounds like.

left click the speaker icon on the right side of your task bar and select your computer sound card ........not usb audio codec

Ken - W3ESH
Ray, Thank you for all of your contributions to this thread that I started. Please do let us know how the Diatone works out for you. From my perspective, it looks as if it is too deep, although mine is a recent model of the FPS-101 and I haven’t taken the cover off to make measurements since this thread started. Perhaps Yaesu redesigned the power supply part of the unit and mine is deeper than yours. Ken, W3ESH

And now for something completely different...
The USB AUDIO CODEC has hijacked my computer audio! I have an internal audio card and also have the choice of using an external USB audio card. Since I only recently installed the CODEC's,no matter which one I want to use requires that I choose it over the CODEC. This then gives me my computer audio again but if I try to transmit FT8 the audio signal just blasts from my speakers and of course I transmit no over the air signal JTAlert has the ability to choose the audio card I want to use and it works fine but the computer itself will not produce sound unless I switch the audio output to the audio card which then stops me from transmitting FT8. FT8 is my priority but it would be nice to be able to get audio out of my computer. Has any one else had this difficulty and found a solution? 73 Walt, W6SA

Re: DO NOT UPGRADE FIRMWARE - microHAM
Carl Yaffey
I have had no trouble with WSJT-X and the new firmware until a few minutes ago. I go the dreaded “hamlib” error.
After trying things like rebooting, reloading the driver, etc. I finally started up flrig and went to settings and did an init. It uses the same com port. WSJT now working fine. ??????? DO NOT UPGRADE FIRMWARE - microHAM
Eric
microHAM America (W4TV)
Apr 10 #20155
It appears that Yaesu have broken the CAT firmware in their
most recent firmware update to the FTdx101. The "get mode" command (MD#;) now returns an error response. This "bug" (or undocumented change) breaks compatibility with all microHAM "keyer" interfaces and may impact all of your logging/contest software. *DO NOT* Update your FTdx101 firmware until this issue has been resolved. 73, ... Re: No ALC in Digital Modes
Mike Cooper
I had the understanding that in FT8 your want very little ALC. I adjust the ALC for max power output which translate to very little ALC on the meter.

Re: FW Work Around
I have K1EL WinKeyer USB, WSJT, HRD, N1MM, JS8 Call, WinLink (though I am having issues with this right now) and Log4OM for SOTA. I use the USB for CAT and audio. Run WSJT and use HRD as the "radio". Logs forwarded automatically to HRD and to QRZ through the forwarding UDP port. I am running the Georgia QSO party on N1MM using the WInKeyer as we speak. I have also been using Diversity receive with 2 different antennas into the 2 VFOs and listening in stereo. I am in a skipo zone for parts of GA and have a G5RV and a vertical. Rather fun to hear how the phase and polarization shifts. Kent K9EZ

No problems with internal keyer here with Rev "A" on my MP. Used the keyer by itself and then with N1MM+ controlling the rig.

Ken,
Do you happen to use a Micro Ham DigiKeyer or MKII? Do you use WSJT-X or just using the USB connection to the rig for digital activities? TNX and 73, Bob K3UL

No issues here at all. I just followed the instructions of backing up my files to the SD card before I updated, then restored them after the reset. I did a full update. Zeros issues.
