I just purchased a EMCO PC Turn 55 cnc lathe. I have not picked it up yet but the former owner tells me that he purchased it from a Vo/Tech school but It does not have the PC or a program. Where can I find the control program?
Centroid is pretty popular, has been around for 30+ years. If you can't find a Centroid Post Processor Use Fanuc 0T http://www.cncsnw.com/PostProcessorsLathe.htm Marc Leonard (cncsnw) has been around

Chris, the benefit of updating to a modern control will be the ease of which you are able to interact with the user interface. The ability to load your parts via USB thumbdrive, and better G code comp

You can "ASSEMBLE" an RS485 card? You can buy RS485 cards..... RS485 is a serial protocol standard. However, I believe there is firmware on the card specific to the Emco. Have you ever proven your car

They are good machines, but without the computer and the Emco board that goes in the computer and the software, you are stuck. You may have to do a control retrofit on it. Marty

I don't think it will last but it will work with Acorn provided you connect it correctly and belt it to the spindle at 1:1 with a timing belt

Cheaper encoders do not have the bearing support to handle the load from the pulley and belt. They are meant to couple to a jackshaft with a coupler, that support the pulley on either side with bearin

NO. Must be a standard line driver/differential 5VDC encoder. See the link I sent earlier. Acorn uses real encoders for accurate threading and tapping. 1000ppr is fine for the spindle
