Re: PCturn 50 tool change command

@Travis_S

If it follows Fanuc syntax (which it should) it should just be T0101;

M6 is generally not used on lathes.

PCturn 50 tool change command

Hey does anyone know the tool change command for the turret to change tools? I tried m06 T0101 and it says value too long. I also tried t01 and nothing.  I’m able to press CTRL-1 and it rotated but not in the program. Thanks.

I made a new shield for my Compact 5 lathe

deadn00b@...

Edited

The shield on my C5 was too dark and scratched so I decided to make a new one. I laser cut some acrylic and bent it using a strip heater. It came out really good, so I figured I'd post it here in case anyone was interested.

Comparison of new and old:

Re: Threading - no rpm in display

Hi Jan,

Stay with the the servo-motor, it's a good solution.

If the relay on the DNC-board still switches the motor you can try shifting the plug,
supposing the original motor controller with his LED-display is still in place. The display electronic works independently from the motor electronic
without any connection.(the great gap on the controller board shows it)
The relay on DNC not only switches the motor (with 2 contacts parallel) but the third contact switches the 10 V for the display (parallel with the Hand / CNC switch.
The switch-output for the motor is doubled on X61 on pin 1/2 in and 8/9, this enables by shifting the plug by one position to have display in CNC-mode or not.
Because mains and 10 V are on the same connector be ware when working on and check triple with the picture of plug X61.

Spindle bearings for Compact 5 CNC

markus.almroth@...

My bearings are bad and needs replacing.
The parts catalogue says it's standard 6006 2Z.

But for precision parts, should'nt one get better tolerance than standard? The machine has held very nice tolerances in the patch. Less than 0.001 mm.

Also the serpentine washer is called 6006/2K in the parts catalogue, but that seems to be an old standard, does anyone know what it's called now. So far i've googled in vain.

Re: Tool changing turret died

Dieter

Hi Dennis,

Some suggestions:

Check if the plug on the backpanel from the motorcable is firmly plugged in and wiggle the plug when turret is under power
if there is a loose connection between plug and socket.

Check / measure the cable from plug to the motor for breakage.

Unscrew the motor and try it with 12V if it runs uniformly, perhaps the brushes are worn out.

Plug the cable back and measure if the DNC-board provides the 12V and check the 12V input from connector X63 on DNC and X13 on power supply.
These connectors are known for bad connection due to oxidation. Be careful when testing, the DNC-board, motor controller etc.
are also connected to mains power!

Check the mechanic for free running.

Dieter

Decode EMCO WinNC signals with PappachanNC

arjan.dijk

Hi All,

I found a short text about a research paper where a guy decoded the EMCO TCP signals.

The network protocol used in communication was identified as Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). To achieve a deeper level of integration, the data packets sent by the WinNC program was investigated and a method was developed to purposely manage the communication between the CNC and programming station. The result of this research is a program called "PappachanNC", which is capable of generating tool-paths for machining some of the STEP-NC features, e.g. planar_face, closed_pocket and round_hole. PappachanNC is capable of connecting to EMCO Concept Mill 105, engaging the drivers, referencing, Jogging the machine and creating and sending axis locations from the details provided. It can create a program similar to the G-code program, with which a part can be machined.

This sounds very interesting, but I can not find any other reference to this guy.

Anyone knows more?

I Want to apply this on my Concept Mill 105

Arjan
