Decode EMCO WinNC signals with PappachanNC

arjan.dijk

Hi All,

I found a short text about a research paper where a guy decoded the EMCO TCP signals.

The network protocol used in communication was identified as Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). To achieve a deeper level of integration, the data packets sent by the WinNC program was investigated and a method was developed to purposely manage the communication between the CNC and programming station. The result of this research is a program called "PappachanNC", which is capable of generating tool-paths for machining some of the STEP-NC features, e.g. planar_face, closed_pocket and round_hole. PappachanNC is capable of connecting to EMCO Concept Mill 105, engaging the drivers, referencing, Jogging the machine and creating and sending axis locations from the details provided. It can create a program similar to the G-code program, with which a part can be machined.

This sounds very interesting, but I can not find any other reference to this guy.

Anyone knows more?

I Want to apply this on my Concept Mill 105

Arjan

If you see my screenshot from the previous email, there is a list of software working with the 50 series. Not saying that the rest wont work, but probably not.

Tool changing turret died

dennisjansen.swe@...

So i bought a compact 5 cnc some time ago mostrly to learn the basics needed for homegarage use. Everything has been working fine except the tool turret. Already from day 1 it acted a bit strange. When it starts to rotate about half the traveled way between 2 tools it "skipps / jumps / jerks" for a split second. After this it smoothly continues and then reverses to lock the tool. Always did this and to my knowledge always centered dead on. Now yesterday it stopped just when doing the jerk and now it is jammed in between 2 tools. I can force it by hand to rotate some more but does not reverse or index the tool at all... So where to start?

The software in that video looks as if it's for the latest Concept range and not the earlier PC ranges. The PC software is not controllable with a mouse, just a keyboard or digitizer pad.

It just works with a companyname and a matching serial (that can probably be made by a keygen). Its shown at startup of the software. You can find a sample in this vide: https://youtu.be/NAZ-AM0qMkY?t=75

Still, I dont think it will work with mill/turn 50. You need something like a really old version

Would you be willing to post picures of your install directory of WinNC and associated subdirectories? A picture of the serial number request screen would be great as well. I think this is dumb software, meaning it is looking for a code to unlock that it does not
register online or anything. With your pics, I can look through my install for a key.

I'm not sure what WinNC you are looking for, but I have a hard time to activate the winNC installs I have here for the PC Turn 55. I have not had a confirmation that Siemens 840D works on that control.  Looking at this screenshot you can see PLC info for the mill 55/turn55 but not the 50

so i found the software in the files section. (sorry i didn't notice it). Now im on a mission for a serial number for winnc for a pcmill 50 and pcturn 50 with fanuc 0 control. Let me know if anyone has a serial number i can purchase from you. thanks

Re: WINNC software

I believe you can call EMCO and they will give you WINNC, they may ask for your machine serial number to make sure that you get the correct version. If not then I have both mill & Lathe & WinCam. The software I have is on 3.5 floppies and I need to get a external floppy drive so I can save it on my harddrive.

Hello all. I was curious if anyone has the WINNC software. I have the MSD files, just don’t have an installation file of WINNC as the drive is corrupted. I’ll gladly pay for it. Thank you.

Re: Threading - no rpm in display

Jan

Thanks a lot, Dieter! I'll try with some adjustments to go with lower rpm.
The lathe was modified by the pre-owner, it has a servo-motor controlled by a frequency converter, but I can use the original pot for adjusting the spindle speed. Good thing, but probably this caused the loss of the indicator in cnc-mode. And maybe a bit too much power for this little lathe (2.2 kW...)
If it works with less speed I'll leave the electronics at the moment, just for safety reasons. But great info, thank you!
