bastiensphoto@...

Hi,

i just got some emco CNC machines andi im trying to put back in working order a Compact 5 CNC
this is the yellow one with the control panel on top.

i do not have the computer and im planing on using it in manual for now...

one of the advence motor is "humming" and does not advence. i believe one capacitor is bad somewhere,
does anyone have a wiring diagram of the little motors?

i also have a tool changer, does someone know how to use it in "manual" mode?

thanks for your help

Hello Anthoni.

Just a quick warning.

There are 2 kinds of quick change tool posts for the EMCO 5. One has the mounting dovetail symetrically placed on the tool holder, and the other has it located nearer to one end. The tool posts are different so they are not interchangeable, so you need to make sure that you buy the right ones.

A good and very helpful source is Tony Griffiths at Lathes.uk - Google it to get the full address. I've bought most of mine from him. Tony is very knowledgeable.

Good luck.

Anthoni,

Depending on which QC toolpost you have, I have found that Myford type holders fit my two Emco symmetrical QC tool posts, although on one it is tighter to slide the holders on and off but on the other they fit like a dream. This must be a quality control issue with Emco.

Best wishes
John

I have welturn installed on my windows 7 32 bit machine but it will not run on windows 7 64 bit. I have tried to change the windows settings to run on other platforms; xp and so on, but have not had any luck. Has anyone tried and had success running it on a 64 bit system? I am running welturn 3.10

very intresting project the only thing I regret on you project that you still work whit printer poorts I works for my Emco project turing machines whit the LeaveBoy77 controllers it works very good and it works on USB for the tool changer you need a 4 axis controller. I only use this controllers at the moment I have use the most things that there are on the market but about price quailty is this at the moment the best board on the market.

Good Morning Colin,

I'm asking $3100 and it's located in the San Jose, Ca area. The below link is for a controller that was purchased for the tool changer.
The picture wasn't included.
I would be willing to ship. But your it would be better as a local pickup.
This is my cell # if you want to call 408 390 2024.

Hello all,

I have updated www.barrowdynamics.com/etc with new information about the ETC2 boards including a new user's guide.

If you have just ordered your board and it is still in delivery, please email me after it arrives and I will send you the software package via email. I am no longer leaving the software freely available online.

Thanks kindly,
Andrew Barrow
