hi all

be aware thats not +5V on the green wire but 1.1V if it is connected and 5V if disconnected.
There an 68 ohm resistor in series on the PCB to power the photointerrupter

if you still have let stay the connectors on it then it is easy to find what the 5 volt is the ground the pulse from the index hole and the 100 holes on the disk. if you take the schematics you can find the connections back you will see that there is one connector whit 1 wire this is the +5 volt on the other sit 5 wire 1 ground the 2 wire that coms from the encoder whit the index and the 100 pulse the other 2 wire are going to the CPU controller board.
but look for the schematic connector X24  pen 5 = +5 volt connector x23 pen 5 GND pen3 index pen 2 count

the IR leds are connected in parallel, buts its an error from emco, normally it have to be in serie so the current would be the same on both IR leds of the barrier. The pcb is fitted in hot glue so its easy to unmount the barriers if needed

the only price I can reduce is the cost of the post, then I will not send it whit a register mail , but if it gone lost it is not my problem.
so then the cost for sending it will be 3€ so the total price will be then 13€

Colors of the light barrier sensors

Hi there,

unfortunately, I did not stumble across the color coding or connector coding of the light barriers used in my EMCO Compact 5 CNC.
Can any1 help me getting the lines right? I know there's +5V, GND, and 2 signal lines for the pulses. But which ones?

I will replace some of the db140 (have some doubt about them)
i found the db139 and tip2955
but i have hard time to find some db245c
the only one i found is $7 each which seem very expensive ... ?

im waiting for the db140, i will keep you updated about the result.
if it doesnt work, i will replace the tip2955 which get a wrong reading ...

So if you can make a pwm signal whit EMC2 is it not a problem to regulate the speed of the spindel.µso if you have found the schematics of the spindelboard so the big differents between te resistance R71 is that it have 2 conections the 7808 have 3 conections and it is so very inportant how you place it and the 3 pins have to be connect.
But the 7808 there are different manufaktors that make them so motrorola is okay but also Samsung......  you see the pdf and you take it in the case 221A and you see that the pins are nr 1,2 3 
so if you see on the schematics the resistance and the capasistor c23 on this point you connect pin nr3 of the 7808 on the other site of the resistance you connect pin nr1 you wil see if you follow the line that it go to the +12 volt. so whe have the  pin2 this connect we whit the otter sire of c23 you will see that this is the ground of the board and you will also see that it go to the potmeter where you regulate your speed whit.
so if you have done you work correct then if you start up again then you can regulate your speed whit the potmeter. like before.


so what is the pwm/potmeter board is that you can regulate the speed of you spindel so the computer give a pwm signal 0 to 100% so for the hiegh configuration form the compact 5 you can regulate you speed from 650RPM/0% pwm till 3500RPM/100% so whit the S faktor in you CNC program.
so on the input from the board you have 2 conections a ground and input there sit a opto coupler on for to make sure that you don't get the mains power from you spindel board on your computer. so on the other site sit 3 connections, so you gone remover the potmeter from the spindelboard and make the connection then om the pcb you have to look that you make the connections on the right place.

If the suspect transistor has readable markings on it, post them on here and we'll try and suggest a suitable substitute. Most transistors in devices like yours can be readily substituted by a variety of others.

i have tested the resistance of every transistor when the board is out of the machine, nothing stand out ...
i have tested the voltage of every transistor, and one stand out ... the fifth from the right (when the board is in place and you are facing the back of the lathe)

it seem like someone already worked on the transistor, the solder are are not clean, i re-solder in place all those transistor ... nothing different ...
i will try to replace the transistor that gave me bad reading, but i dont seem to be able to find it online ...
anyone knows a store where i can get some wired transistor for cheap?

i would appreciate it if you could explain me which exactly is the resistor which should be replaced.
Do i need the C6 control board as described above?
Can i take the pwm signal from the linuxcnc as descrided here??
