Re: compact 5: advance motor "humming"


I had a similar problem on an F1 years ago.  The problem turned out to be a defective transistor on the stepmotor board specific to the bad axis.  The function of the transistor is to initiate motor stepping by switching to the high voltage (40V) at the start of each step.  

Try moving the axis at minimum speed.  If it moves you probably have the same problem.  I can't find any notes on how I determined which part it was so I can't be of any more help.
