Sudden Loss of K3S pc connectivity.

Today my pc no longer recognizes K3S
1.Radio RS232 port is set to usb/38400bd. Tried two different usb type b to type c cables. Tried plugging type c cable connection into both direct pc usb port and a hub usb connection. Neither connection worked. pc does not recognize radio
2 Device Manager recognizes Com 3 with no events.
3.Neither N1MM nor Logging program will connect over com 3/38400. I have been using this connection forever. Failure occurred today

I wonder if this is KIO3 board failure?  P3 works ok using RJ45 port on KIO3. I am stumped

Thanks Ray. Yes, but weeks ago. This issue happened today so doubt it is related to update

Any chance that it could have happened from a lightning strike?  A friend of mine lost a couple of Serial Ports from a lightning strike...

Hi Jim,

Do you still see the USB audio devices in the PC device list.
Does a COMM port (dis)appear when (dis)conncting the USB cable.

Thanks to all for the help. Even a tech at Elecraft was unable to unravel the issue. Could not connect to K3 Utility either.  Device Manager told me Com3 was good. I was ready to ship radio to factory. I had RSA issued.

Last night, I performed routine, minor Win 10 update and suddenly Com 3 port is connecting to K3S again. K3 Utility also connects. Talk about a "snake in the grass".

I just had the same problem, and it turned out to be a defective USB cable.
There was a small amount of corrosion on one or more of the pins on the A side.
Replacing the cable restored everything!
