FT240-31 Toroids

KE8G

Hi All,
Well, after experiencing the RFI problem, first time by the way, I am looking to buy some toroids to keep it from happening again.

Anyone have a good supplier for these?

Thanks in advance,
73 de Jim - KE8G

Try https://www.kitsandparts.com/   You might want to try both FT240-43 and FT 240-31 cores. I wind 17 turns of RG 400 coax on them. I have one at the antenna feed, one before coax enters my house and one at the rig. Also I wrap 17 turns of the usb cord on a toroid. If you do all of this then you should be able to clean the problem up.

Buy them direct from a distributor like Arrow and avoid the retail markups.  Use Mix 31.  You can use snap on beads for USB cables if large torioids are not convenient but always use at least a few turns.

If this is a PC problem, treat the keyboard, mouse, and any other USB connectors.

I would second the suggestion to use mix31... I think Mouser is out of stock, as are most folks that sell for any reasonable price. Mouser, was selling for five or six bucks each.

Arrow does have the 2.4" OD toroid in 43-mix available, delivered, for less than $6.

Get the Fair-Rite catalog (download off their site) and learn to use the mfgr numbers, not just the one that Amidon puts on Fair-Rite products...

I use exclusively Tripp Lite products. (Cables/AC Isobar Distribution ). USB cables have Ferrite Chokes both ends.  Power strips have 4 exclusive isolated filter banks to limit noise. There is no noise ever in my radios. Little more money and worth every dime.

I want to thank all who have made recommendations, I really appreciate the varied sources for the toriods.  I have ended up buying a "10 pack" from Pro Audio Engineering.  I was pleased with the price and the shipping was reasonable.

Hi all,

I have used Mouser for all my ferrite choke needs for a very long time. I always use mix #31 and have never experienced them out of stock. I also buy my Amphenol coax connectors and adapters from them. I never use anything else than Amphenol. Alas I think I have enough of both to last me for the rest of my life (I am just 66 though) and I don't have that many new antenna projects. My current crop of tree-hung wire antennas (4 in all) have proved to be very durable and have made it through some incredible wind storms.
