Jim, If you have 'Fake It' on (and you SHOULD); if the tones selected are not between 1500-2000 Hz, the radio will shift the VFO frequency so that the third harmonic of the audio will not be transmitt

To what point? The PC->P3->K3 serial port by itself works, both ways. The PC (which runs the WSJT-X program) can either use the serial port stand alone or via other software (HRD, N1MM+ etc) for CAT.
