You ever sell the K3s?

Re: Wanted: KPA3 100 W Amp

John Duncan

Hey Bob, did you find your KPA3 amp? I think I have one. Meaning, I just purchased a k3/100 but need the amp out to use it on a remote where the power can't accidentally be tuned up.

Re: KPA500 with LDG600 Tuner

Michael Foerster

Looks like the only option would be to put the amp in bypass mode.
I don’t think the amp in tune mode will put out less than 25 watts.

My fear is that if the SWR changes (while on Remote) it will try to tune at high power.

not a good solution.

Check to make sure your "main" antenna is connected.  This has been happening to me

as well.  Change bands, no real antenna noise. or when working split nothing from the

B receiver.  Punch the Antenna button a couple times and it then connects.  It has always

been connected before so why all of a sudden i have to go thru the ANT. connecting

routine, don't know.  Came back from the last factory workover that way.

K3's speaker spontaneously turning on - then off (when audio should only be in phones)

Alan Higbie

Anyone have similar issue . . . and what was the problem?

I have two K3's.  They are set up the same - and only one has this problem.

My goal is to have audio routed out from rear PHONES port and to headphones only.

Majority of the time: audio gets to headphones ONLY (i.e. the way I want it)

but sometimes the K3’s SPEAKER will come on too, i.e. audio still coming through headphones - but ALSO coming out of speaker too

— this condition will last for 5 - 10 seconds - sometimes for 30-45 seconds - then stops (until it comes on again - seemingly by itself)

— this happens with NO mechanical movement of radio or vibration of the radio.
-- wiggling the audio plug at output port does NOT duplicate the spontaneous speaker activation
-- only complete removal of the plug from the port will duplicate the activation.

Background:

K3 Serial number = 994

~ April 2019 - KIO3B Interface Option installed

Audio line is routed out PHONES (stereo) PORT plug (and eventually to my headphones)

MENU ITEMS:

SPKRS = 1

SPKR+PH = no

The condition (i.e. speaker coming on)
        - Does not seem to be related to rig being cold vs. warmed up more (but I wouldn't rule that out)

- happens when MENU SPKR+PH = Yes (But, I have set the MENU ITEM to SPKR+PH = no)

- and also happens when audio plug removed from PHONES (stereo) PORT

Sound familiar to anyone?

Re: KPA500 with LDG600 Tuner

1)  No, only if you put the amp in standby.

2)  Yes, set the tune wattage to a low enough value that it supplies the tuner with enough, but doesn't cause the amp to blow out the tuner (set the TUN PWR to a very LOW value so the amp doesn't make a lot from it either).

You can send a string, say a letter ‘T’ (etc.) in CW mode with tone output only by embedding “<“ (RF off) and “>” (RF on) characters in a KYtext command.
For example:
KYW<T>;
The ‘W’ forces the K3 to complete the message send before moving on to other commands in the macro.

Hi Wayne,

Thank you for the suggestion!!

The software I use to send macros, (MixW), uses "<", and ">" to start and terminate a macro...

So no go... Any other way to suppress xmit send a character, then re-enable xmit?

I like ESSB toggle.
NORM the filter.
Full wide on the WIDTH.
Several TX EQ presets for ESSB or Contest audio etc.
A Home button, (sets to 50.125 USB) for when I just leave the radio on doing other things.
Band UP/Down.
I use the KPOD.
