Good question Neal... You may want to have a look at

the Elecraft e-mail reflector. A link is provided on their website www.elecraft.com .. There is considerably more activity there... not all of it pertaining to the K3... and, nothing so far regarding an answer to your question. I am not certain if Wayne and the gang watch this group... but, I am sure that once actual specs are published, they will be posted on the Elecraft site. 73, Joe - WB1AIU

Leigh L Klotz, Jr.
Elecraft said the main and sub RX (and their DSPs) are identical, so there shouldn't be any design or fab issues that affect only the 2nd RX. Since they have 50% cash in hand for the first ~200 units including options, I don't think it would be too hard to get 250 or 300 instead of 200 RX and DSP modules fabbed at the same time. They may try to get the first RX modules tested first but it doesn't seem to me that it would take more than a few days to test everybody's 2nd RX.

Re: Subrx availability?
Eric Swartz - WA6HHQ, Elecraft
The 2nd RX should ship 30-45 days after the first K3s begin shipping.

It was the last item to leave engineering and the pipeline of parts and PCBs takes time to arrive here. Plus we have a lot of items to build, test and ship. We're pretty busy these days, as you might expect, so I can';t post here often. I'll try to stop by from time to time though! 73, Eric WA6HHQ

Hallo Eric,
Eric Swartz wrote in Elecraft_K3@yahoogroups.com: The 2nd RX should ship 30-45 days after the first K3s begin shipping.Thank you for the information! Would it be too much to ask what the shipping schedules for the K3 and the other options, filters, etc. look like currently? vy 73 de toby -- DD5FZ, 4N6FZ (ex dj7mgq, dg5mgq, dd5fz) K2 #885, K2/100 #3248 K3/100 #??? K3 on DXpedition
Mike B <kw1nd@...>
Maybe this has already been posted, but I hadn't seen it. A buddy found
this nugget on a DX list: The February 2008 DXpedition to Ducie Island (near Pitcairn in the south Pacific) will be using 7 Elecraft K3 radios along with 7 ACOM amplifiers and various antennas.

Found at: http://ducie2008.dl1mgb.com/content/view/39/2/
Carsten (DL6LAU) and Eric (K3NA) met in Dayton at the Hamvention to discuss more details about the operation from Ducie. We had very nice conversations and as a result Elecraft committed to become a major sponsor. Eric and Wayne from Elecraft will supply us with seven to eight 8 K3s. In addition ACOM will supply 7 amplifiers and Force12 will supply most of the vertical antennas. Furthermore Oms, PY5EG will make a IRIDIUM satellite telephone available so that the logs can be uploaded on a daily basis hopefully. -- DD5FZ, 4N6FZ (ex dj7mgq, dg5mgq, dd5fz) K2 #885, K2/100 #3248 K3/100 #??? Swapping Standard 2.7 kHz 5-pole Filter
bill_w4zv <w0zv@...>
According to Monica at Elecraft, it's possible to swap
the standard 2.7 kHz 5-pole filter for either the 2.8 kHz 8-pole or the 400 Hz 8-pole for an incremental $90 ($30 credit plus the standard $120 charge for 8-pole filters), but only the 2.8 kHz and 400 Hz may be substituted for the standard filter. Now if we only knew if there were any difference in IMD/BDR performance we could make a rational decision... 73, Bill W4ZV
