Re: KPA500 Combiner - MFJ ACB-1000
I have not tried specifically the MFJ combiner (and don’t forget you’ll also need the splitter for the inputs) but I used the W6PQL splitter/combiner units for 4 years. Worked fine.

Re: K3 power adjustment
I do OK to AF on both bands, primarily because it's not a polar path. I have 231 on 80M, 279 on 40M.

Re: K3 power adjustment
Jim -
OK, that makes sense. I'm looking at my contacts with both South Africa and New Zealand/Australia. All are in the 8000-9500 mile range.
I have zero contacts in South Africa on 160 OR 80

Re: K3 power adjustment
Len,
The obstacles are 1) the 5.500-6,000 path over the pole to EU; 2) ground conductivity is pretty low; 3) terrain -- I'm 200 ft below the top of a ridge on the slope away from EU; 4) RX noise on

Lyn,
Having lived in Northern Calif and now in Colorado the propagation from further west than Illinois where you live, is a big factor.
Nevertheless, there are mysteries in 160M propagation. A

I figured it would be an impressive assortment of 160m antennas, and you don't disappoint. With all that going for you, there must be something else holding back 160 at your location (terrain?

Re: K3 power adjustment
Hi Len,
I have three for TX. The first, a Tee with the top supported to about 100 ft between two redwoods, with about 60 on-ground radials; the other two are wires sloping to the east and to the west

Re: K3 Reset
Search the manual for EE INIT. Before anything, it's best to use the K3 Utility program and save your current configuration. After that make sure you have the latest firmware

KAT500 CONFIGURATION QUESTION
I have a non-technical question.
I use the KPA500 / KAT500 combo with an IC 7300 transceiver. When I went into the KAT500 Utility Program to check firmware date and look at my configuration settings

WTB: KRX3A Sub Receiver
Looking for a KRX3A sub receiver for my K3S. With or without filters is OK. Would also consider a radio that has the sub receiver installed. If a K3, it would need to have the upgraded KSYN3A
