Re: Tranverter
If you only want an FM box for 2M, then yes, buy a separate radio.
However, if you need SSB/CW for DX and contests, then the internal unit is the only way to go.

Re: Transverter
The only internal transverter I know of for the K3 is for 144 MHz.
I have one in mine and it works fine.
I wish there WAS one for 220.
I still use my antique µWave Modules 220/28 for that

Re: Tranverter
I agree with that advice and yet started that way and went the other direction. My K3S usually lives in a rack enclosure. I even machined a custom front panel and got the radio and P3 side by side

I have and use the internal 2 meter transverter in the K3S, but didn't know they made any others. I use it occasionally for 2 meter FM, more for SSB, and also to drive external transverters for 23cm

Re: Tranverter
Yes, I have the 144-146 MHz version. Works fine, but could do with more output Watts. Adequate power output for driving an amplifier.

Re: Out Band
If you contact them Elecraft they can provide a software patch to enable Tx outside the normal amateur bands.
With the patch enabled, Tx on my K3 is still inhibited between 7.650 and 9.000 MHz. As

Re: Out Band
If you mean 7.6 to 7.7 Mhz then you need to apply the MARS modification which is a firmware obtained from Elecraft you will need to provide a reason, if MARS your MARS call sign. Also in that region

Re: K3S Lost Sensitivity On 40 Meters SOLVED
Hi Dave,
If the RX antenna port is selected you should see a small "RX" text icon on the screen, but it isn't very obvious. This is a most common error, so don't feel bad about it!

Hi,
Come on! Where do you think those Europeans and the other parts of the US got the virus from? That the virus started in China and has since spread to all the rest of the world is accepted science
