strange tone using FT8 on 80M
Hi all,
I have been playing around with FT8 on my K3, and it has been working fine on all the bands where I have transmitted, 17,20 and 40M. However, on 80M, instead of the pure tone as on the other

K3/0 mic path question
I’m attempting to interface a CM500 headset to my K3/0 mini. The phones audio is no issue, but I can’t seem to get mic drive to the side panel mic jack. I’ve tried the various config options,

Re: K3S Loose Microphone Connector
Thanks guys, guess it's normal...
I thought about trying to solder the shell to the wire on the back side, but I doubt that the solder would stick.
I'll just leave it alone.

After removing the little metal cap, I checked, mine is the same way, the pins are hard bound, the ring is loose.

Re: K3S Loose Microphone Connector
Ed,
The 8 pins within the connector are tight; the part with some "play" is just the ring with the threads on it.

Re: K3S Loose Microphone Connector
Mine is also loose. I haven't opened it up, but I figured that the connector was just soldered to the board and not fastened to the front panel. It seems that most electronic items are constructed

Re: K3S Loose Microphone Connector
I had a similar experience - not with a K3 but with an MFJ voice keyer which uses the same type of connector..all my attempts to tighten it enough to stabilise it failed. Once I realised it wasn't all

Must be something different from the older K3. I just checked my K3 (none S) and it is very tight...

Well, I just checked my K3s, and be damned it is not loose too. I have never used it (I use the rear panel one), so it has been that way from the get-go.
I also have a K3 (was replaced by the K3s
